As I was reading and learning new stuf about part of my roots and culture, I started doubting. Part of me is Duitch, and part of me is African; Congo. I heard women who live there talk about what they have gone through and even go through every single day. How troops would just bust in there houses, raped them and even there chldren. One story really hurt me. A mother had to see how here doughters of 10 and 14 years old got raped bij 7 man, afterwards the mother got raped bij 8 man, then the cut in her, pulled out all of her pubic hair and than made her 20 years old sun rape her! He refused so they shot him. I mean, this happens every single day in Congo! And many man leave there wife after she's raped.
Why do we wear stories about people being hold up, are die over some kind of disease.. meanwhile we hear nothing about what happens in Congo and the rest of black Africa! Every year 4 million people in Congo suffer under this. Congo is one of the most dangerouse places in Africa.I think that we, as people who do live safe, should make a difference. This situation cant be accepted. There are people living in fair, right now! Many people act like they dont know nothing about all of this going on over there, and many people really dont know. People only hear about where weaponscome from; Europe and America, but they dont know what they're used for in Africa. After reading this you cant pretend like you didnt knew, becouse you do know now. Make a change, let others know about this.. this is not fair, but it is real!
Is it true, do they just dont care? Pleaes tell me what you already knew about this and what your opinion is. ThnQ.

I'm sorry mate but when humanity gets that bad, then the only thing you can do is sit back and watch the people destroy themselves. You can't educate people out of that behaviour.

That stuff is the will of the people, if the people's will was strong enough thenthose eight men would of been attacked by 8000 thousand other men who were also horrified by what happens. They don't though, they just sit back likeI do and they're the ones who have to live with the problem and bearound people like that. It's they who should come up with solutions.

If the Foreign Freedom fighters of history thought the same thing about Europe during WW2- that they weren't worth fighting for - then we wouldn't be here now. Definitely not like this.
Perhaps it is best if someone of the opinion above has dialogue with the people concerned like the original poster has. Like Martin Luther said: Aninjustice somewhere is an injustice everywhere.

People pretty much attribute any negative aspect of an African region to all of Africa. Most people couldn't tell you the names of 10 countries there off the top of their heads let alone realize that there are over 50. To alot of people hearing about rapes in Africa is like hearing "It's going to rain tommorow." I hate saying this, especially since I haven't experienced a 1/10th of what some people have there, but I think alot of Africans need to get it in gear and make more changes on their own. I realize there are some who don't have the capability or resources to do some but there are others who just allow stuff like that to happen and sit there w/o even trying to stop it.
Peacemaker if you don't have anything relevant or even remotetly constructive to contribute to the topic maybe you just shouldn't say anything? Especially if it'ssomething assinine like that.

Oh yeahI forget that a few punks in the Congo where threatening the whole make up of the world.
Thankfully the foreign forces helping Europe, knew that they'd have Europeans as well as themselves fighting. The Europeans didn't just sit around and quiescence meeklywhile Hitler was tryingtake over the gaff. They actually did something THEMSELVES.
What are the people doing in the Congo to help themselves again by the way? Actually what are other African countries doing to help? Hmm let me think.
Quoting dead people proves what exactly?
Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan, Somalia.People dying for other people's freedom right? What do they have to say again? That have no historic words, they have no inspiring speeches, they didn't get a chance to voice their real opinions, they were just doing a job. They've died for nothing. Does anyone even remember their names?
The people still suck regardless, they just fight over something else now, normally with each other. Yay for western democracy.
Internal problems don't need external help. Internal problems that might spread elsewhere might need some sort of foreign intervention mind you like WW2 for example..
In WW2 that was the case....................Obviously.
The Congodialogue.I can just see it now.
Diplomat says"Do you mind sir not asking this woman's son to rape her. You see it's rather sick. In fact could you please not rape anybody. Or in fact kill anyone, because when you kill people sir, people die. Do you understand? "
"Yes" says Congo rebel. "I repent my sins. You're right,I was wrong. I shall not kill no more, no more woman and children will be slain by my hands. Let us plant crops and feed the hungry, not only here but throughout the world. "

Dipshit if you can't do anything about a problem yourself perhaps not being a hypocrite would be sage advice to take.

And if you can't spell even a simple wordasinine correctly use something that you can spell, like the word stupid instead.
It doesn't make you look smart it makes you look like you're trying to hard....to impress. God knows who.

Give money to organizations? How do we know its getting there?
Education? Bywho and for whom?
and my problem is...what can I do, where canI start to helpmy fellow kind?
The problem is as well, the rest of the world doesnt care nor have hope for Africa. Like someone else said, "What if AIDS was a conspiracy to kill off the African race?"
who are we fighting against and how do we get passedyour enemies to achieve our goals?
