my dad has bought some land in ghana hes got two infact but im not sure how much it cost i fink it woz around £10.000 for the both of them but thats just an approximate guess. there not to live in permenantly but just when we go on holiday there. you have to plan how u want it, possibly draw up your plan of the house and then u need to get some builders and all that. u will need connections in that country or u will have to fly out there urself to check up that the builders are working and bla bla bla.

In Somalia it's about $15,000 on one single family home. I'm building one, in fact it's almost half way done, in costal townin Puntland, Somalia. This will cost me around $30,000 like it big and near the ocean. Here is my plan when I go back in the spring. Feel free to add.............

As much as possible use locally acquired materials, even if you have to pay more.

Employ locals (sponsor a youth or two for an apprenticeship) And pay over the odds for wages.

Pay your taxes.

Don't lord it over the natives.

If we do not have an accurate analysis of the problem, we cannot possibly develop a good strategy to resolve it.

Quite a few brits are doing this and this is what i have gleaned.

Make sure lawyers look over land ownership before you buy, 'cause land sits still for ages, some family member sells it to you and as soon as you start building another family member comes and claims the land as his.

Employ a construction company to build the house, settling on price beforehand. They will dupe you, becaue they think you're bursting with money, but in pounds it won't be much. At least the house will be built.

If you choose to rent it, pick a foreign company/ embassy that way you can charge more and in pounds!!!!!

You can request 1 years rent upfront (no lie)!!!!!

Some will hate you, pretend they love you now
Then behind they try to eliminate you
But who Jah bless, no man curse
Thank God, we\'re past the worse
