Nice post brother! I am Nigerian born and bred moved over to England at the age of 15 to chase the Queen's head and yep i enjoy the movement between both World's of Lagos and Nigeria.

The place might shock you if you make a visit there and want to go as a tourist! You see Nigeria is not tourism oriented at this stage therefore, the best mindset to take there is that you are a black and possibly you are visiting "home". The reason is Nigerians are very Afro-centric and would love to see you wanna take up the African Heritage. So be prepared for alot of love from the ladies and the brothers would show you much love too.

The country is split between Christian and Muslims, The Christians in their majority live in the South and the Muslims are predominately in the North, but you still get a fair scattering of the two in both regions.

I am from the South and grew up in the roughest place in Lagos possibly the roughest and toughest place on the continent, “Ajegunle. Whenever I see images of Trench Town in down Kingston then I remember Ajegunle. It was tough and yep I struggled with the aid of folks to break out of the ghetto mentality, gunfights and arm robbery to settle down in England it was a do or die affair.Believe me when you see you will know (The suffaration out there is massive and sicks me) I would not recommend you visit on your own. unless of course you’ve got a bredrin who is happy to show you round. It is a real eye opener. As you see the real Africans and you understand the mentality of the youths growing up there.
Enuff Street urchins also known as "Area boys" never mess with these youths either no matter how many steriods you've taken and think you are superman! lol.
If they ask you for money don't give. I witness the killing of one of these yoths right before my eyes when a friend of mine gave some money at Ojuelegba to one of the kids, and the rest of the guys requested the lucky kid to split it. He refused and was gonna walk away, but was bludgeoned to death immeaditely by the rest of the gang!SHOCKING yep but thats how life goes for some on the continent. Anyway I digress

Make sure you visit Femi Kuti’s African shrine the son of Fela Kuti of if you ain’t heard of him by now , please do an internet search for him to find out more!. The shrine is based in Agidingbi area of Ikeja, Lagos. Try the Nigeria Natural Grass (Herbs) Love its for its purity… know what I mean?
Ikeja, Victoria Island, Festac Town, and of course the heart of Lagos is a must visit for you. I recommend you use the local transport as you can catch bear jokes on the bus with nuff characters. From story tellers, to bible debaters. For example, the bus conductors are no nonsense type of guys due to the nature of the jobs and the amount of illbreds they run into on a daily basis, chances are you might see a fight break out or an argument get heated up on the bus as most people try and outwit the conductor on change or vice versa.

Here is a link to a phat tunes called i no be gentleman i be original African man, and many more by Legendary FELA KUTI. Nuff Said:

Ohh never be tempted to fight those conductors as I witnessed a scene about 5yrs ago when visiting when I saw this likkle youth in an altercation with another man over fares and such like, the youths grabbed a bottle, smashed bottle over his own head stab himself all over with blood drpping all over his body, stripped off stark naked chanting all sorts of incantations , then chasing his opponent. Of course his opponent legged it!!! Lol. You don’t fight them Kats there.. he his using what we call “African magic…

A Trip to Ikoyi,Victoria Island and you would feel you are possibly back in England it is always worthwhile to see how the well off and rich are doing! I just don't get it, brudda? They are fat and well fed down those areas. You can take a trip to the Lekki beach too to witness carnivals and sunsplash jams of local music artist . During the year end period. Always a lot of talent on show. This is similar to the Jamaican music sunsplash Music fest held annually too. Where you get sound systems and djs like stone love perform. The only difference is Jamaica has more pomp around it than Lagos. But Lagos attracts thousands of crowds from all over.

Ohh , you need to make a visit to Badagry to see the slave trade and its distinct features i.e the chains, boats, hunts built, etc. And also the stories Its always a fairly gripping event.

For the most part I will say take as much money as possibly, be HUMBLE, and be prepared to enjoy yourself.Don't gwan like a "rude" bwoi down them zones, trust me you will be taken out FAST! By the original rude bwois. Its not worth it.
Basically make sure you wear your condom scally wag! Enjoy yourself as much as possible with all the goodies the country has to offer. The lady will love you to bits…the accent, £s in ya pocket and of course your mentality will be an instant magnet for the cute babes. How long are you thinking of visiting?

The hotels are expensive in my humble opinion. You could be charged almost $70 per night in good hotels! Its always best to go with a mate… Nigeria visit is not always for JJC(Johhny just come) as you might be fleeced terribly.

I will say take about ÂŁ1500 for a two weeks visit and make sure you lodge a notice with the British Embassy to say you are in the country.

Feel feel to ask questions

everything colomentality said was on point.

lagos eh? id advice you blackpowerto stick to places like victoria island and ikoyi, or lekki especially since its your firstime avoid places like ajegunle, mushin, mile2,

im serious i lived there in ajegunle akajungle city aka city of god.(well it has a few similarites to city of god except the drugs)when i was a kid and it wasnt a walk in the parkbefore moving to ikoyi.

dont look for a place outside those areas because armed robbery is rampant and these areas like victroia etc.are more securered .

if you decide to venture out side these places go with someone you trust and do it at day time. hotel prices vary in those good areas i listed above and you can find a suitable one but trust me those places are cool places to live in and youll have fun. oh by the way dont wear an expensive watch and flash it for the world to see. look the place is cool dont let those few things i wrote blind you. i havnt been there for two years so i dont know what new spots have been opened because these places like victoriasland and ikoyi got so much foreign investment that a new spot pops up every two months there . so you wouldnt have a problem anyway. oh yeah and the ladies can be spotted in bars and clubs or when you just go shopping wath out for the gold diggers and local girls, expect to see crisp ladies withugly old whitemen with money,

watch out for university girls especially university of lagos. infact thats the spot to pull the ladie u know ,though they will fight over your ass becuase of your acsent so you dont have much work to do,the ladies over there in lagos are much more attractive than the ones here anyway.

if you want you cantarget some rich girl at the airpot comming from ukand give her your number so she,ll show you around etc.

and try some of the beaches too, avoid a beach called barbeach, its full of prostitutes and crack whores, try lekki beach ,alpha beachand the rest, just go with someone who knows about lagos and a personyou trust and youll be okay. and there are realgoodresurants that would make the ones here look like shit . and um,,,get a car with an a.c

Lagos is possibly the less welcoming place in Africa. Only Nigerians orbusinessmen go there. For a first time visit to Africa I would recommend somewhere morehospitable and less dangerous like Dakar, Banjul,Accra, Cotonou, Bamako, Abidjan, Libreville, Pointe Noire,Addis Ababa, Nairobi, Dar- Es- Salaam, etc...

Lagos is not a place for tourists yet.
