This is not light v dark thread as we are all bored with them, but I have seen the caption used here in recent weeks and was curious.
Does the term alsomean, that a person who is say blue black is considered "sweeter" than say just a chocolate coloured person?..........even though both are dark, but one much darker than the other.
if the saying "the darker the berry the sweeter the juice" is applied correctly.
Nothing big, I was just wondering................has anyone else thought about it that way............................................... ..
Yeah I know it's just a harmless saying.

But the part of the saying y'all apparently haven't heard is : "But when it's that black, it ain't of no use". Nobody ever finishes that saying so few people know the whole line.
They hate you because they are afraid of the dark.

child of darkness, never heard that saying....the cheek of it!
sounds like a Southern US phrase, the way its worded.
Anyhoo, like I said, it is not a question about light v dark, but about the phrase in question. Someone who uses the phrase who is dark but not the darkest must also consider people who are darker as "sweeter" or do most people not think about it that way.
I dont know, but maybe some people here use the phrase so maybe they can answer my query.

I don't think anybody who says it (without knowing the whole phrase) actually compares skin colors, nor literally means sweet or kind or whatever. It is pretty much a black is beautiful statement, dark is lovely too kind of thing. I don't think someone is gonna be like "I thought I was sweet, but DAMNNNNN you must make a brotha diabetic!" when they see a woman darker than themself.
They hate you because they are afraid of the dark.

No question is silly if asked genuinely, maybe you could have answered it though.
Yeah its not a deep question and I did say it was nothing serious, I know we are not used to that around here, but even simple questions just out of innocent curiousity can be asked, why would I wonder and not ask?
I have the right to ask, there is noharm inthat..........
anyway, child of darkness thanks for the answer.

For some reason , I've always seen very dark skin as sexy or sensual.
The darker the woman, the sexier she is to me....especially if the skin is smooth and glossy like.
