All it takes is one or 2 generations for the children of African immigrants to get caught up in the same vices AfroAmericans find themselves in.
We're all making excuses for our condition and it needs to stop.

10 Points on Capitalism
1. Capitalism is elitist in that it creates a new aristocracy based in capital accumulation that makes up the ruling class in a democracy.
2. Capitalism exploits the disadvantaged in society by paying the most needy less, in order to boost profits. As a result, many of the disadvantaged are left behind in society, creating apathy. Inc. Single mothers, immigrants, ext.
3. Capitalism is incompatible with democracy in the sense that capitalism is competitive while democracy should be cooperative.
4. Capitalism creates conflict in society by pinning citizens against one another in the pursuit for capital.
5. Capitalism creates powerful multi-national corporations that often act out of self interest and never out of the common good of society. Corporations don’t support social justice.
6. Corporations have come to influence and even dictate state policy while preventing equality and social justice that conflicts with their economic interests. Capitalism keeps democracy from reaching its full potential.
7. In capitalism the employer pays their workers the lowest possible wage in order to maximize profit. In doing so, they prevent the economic welfare of their workers. Also, they do not promote equal work for equal value.
8. Capitalism creates a discrepancy in wealth. In the United States, the wealthiest 20% possess almost half the wealth, while the poorest 20% possess roughly 5%. Source: World Bank
9. Capitalism does not permit universal education and therefore prevents social equality. It has created a money-driven society where the best education is available only to the wealthy because of inflating tuition costs.
10. Most politicians are wealthy and have business links when going into politics. As a result, this prevents them from acting out of the best interests of their constituents. Instead, they protect business interests in hopes that major corporations will fund their campaign.
is this what you want for africans?

I understand where you were coming from , but to generalize the poor as welfare dependant idiots could be no further from the truth.
Truth is alot of people work low end jobs and bust their asses it's called living check to check and to be classified as lazy welfare dependant idiots doesnt fit a working man or womans description.

@Coltrane
What trap, if your mean a trap to get you into a discussion then fine you got me there.
I'm new on this forum but I already know that there is a "thing" between Africans and Afro-Americans. I'm not part of this. I'm not tryin to bait u to raging at me.
Its funny you will always picture me as african now, but if you saw me on road you'd think I was british bcos of my london accent and my way of life.
Sometimes I think this forum is more detrimental than helpful.

I have noticed quite often that I will make a provocative coment and no one responds.

nothing but hardwork will get you where you want to be...
--- So there you have it; my point is, if a poor African woman, born in a remote village to farmers can educate herself, rear 5 kids single-handedly and forge a succesful career 5000 miles away in a foreign country, why is it that 'poor' people here in the west keep comin up with countless excuses why they are at the bottom of the pile.
To again be provocative, I really don't believe in hard work.
With the level of technology the United States has had since World War II most Americans should have their homes payed for by now and the US should be on a 3-day work week by now. The American people waste so much potential wealth it is ridiculous and Black Americans want to imitate what the stupid White Americans are doing.
I worked harder in my father's grocery store as a kid than I have in most of the jobs I have held since dropping out of college. Carrying boxes of Campbell's soup and staming and stacking cans was a boring pain in the a$$. And what happens, I caught the butcher my father hired stealing meat, my father used to send me to his competitors to check their prices. Why weren't Black people in a Black neighborhood buying from a Black owned store? It is ridiculous how often White people can be easier to do business with. A can of Campbell's soup and a box of Kellog's corn flakes is pretty much the same wherever you buy it.
I think that's one reason we don't get anywhere. Throwing money at White people as if that should impress them is selfdefeating. I went to Marshall Field's, a supposedly high class department store, with a Black woman from work and she spent $500 on a watch. I couldn't see what was so great about it that it was worth $500 but she got all excited about this thing. You would have thought it was the second coming of Christ or something. ROFL

U.S. Faces Rising Flood of Poverty
by William Fisher ; September 04, 2005
NEW YORK, Sep 2 (IPS) - “The rich got richer and the poor got poorer is a sentence most often used to describe the economic plight of underdeveloped countries.
But last week, it was being used to describe the economy of the world’s lone superpower: the United States.
The U.S. Census Bureau released new figures that many economists say reflects the negative impacts of Pres. George W. Bush’s so-called “ownership society", which seeks more tax cuts on capital investments, tax credits for saving and privatised Social Security.
The downward trend has been graphically brought home by television images of desperate refugees from Hurricane Katrina – overwhelmingly poor and African American – many of whom live paycheck-to-paycheck and could not afford the gas
