The government steals tax money to supposedly finance the schools and you say the parents should educating the kids anyway. Then what did they pay the taxes for?

Look at the planes from WWII. They were designed by engineers with slide rules. They didn't have electronic computers. P-51 Mustang 450 mph, P-38 Lightning 414 mph. That was 25 years before the moon landing. It is now 36 years after the moon landing. The Concord has been designed, built, flown and discontinued. We have computers coming out of our ears. We have robots on Mars.

And Alan Greenspan and the entire economics profession says nothing about the planned obsolescence of cars. Says nothing about how much has been lost on depreciation of all that garbage since World War II. I estimate it is around TEN TRILLION Y2K DOLLARS.

And you want to call it WEAK.

I challenge you. Get an economics textbook. Find what it says about depreciation of durable consumer goods.

I honestly don't think you understand the way capitalism works and how few poor people "pull themselves out" of poverty. I don't think you understand that the driving philosophy behind capitalism is to blame the individual for failures whether they are at fault or not. Prior to modern society this was not the case, the individual was not blamed for being poor, it was understood that god had a grand plan and the poor were poor because that is how god set up society etc a theocracy of sorts. The idea of choice and choosing to "pull yourself up by the bootstraps" is a recent concepted espoused to capitalism, modernity, and democracy.

Two interesting things occured in Western culture around 1900. The 2nd industrial revolution made a big jump in productivity possible and Sigmund Freud's ideas about the human mind began to spread. These two things set the stage for psychologically manipulated consumerism. These two statements make an interesting combination.

This issue cuts across the academic landscape.Many people assume that sending an untrained and unmotivated child to a private school would be better than a "crappy" public school.If the child is given the spark to be intellectually curious in their youth then it won't matter where they went to school.I've went to private and "crappy"public schools.It doesn't stop nothing.
