New satue unveiled in Trafalgar Square of disable pregnant woman, what about a black statue of someone like Mary seacole who did alot for the English soilders in the Russian/English war.

I think it's a good idea that they've put up a statue that represents disabled people but i'm not sure if it's in the right place. I feel there should be a statue of a black person or someone of an ethnic diversity like Gandhi.



A controversial statue of disabled artist Alison Lapper has been officially unveiled on Trafalgar Square's fourth plinth.

Mark Quinn's 13-ton, 11ft 6in high white marble sculpture is London's latest landmark.


Lapper, who was born with no arms and shortened legs due to a congenital disorder, posed naked for Quinn when she was eight months pregnant.

London Mayor Ken Livingstone hailed Lapper as a "modern heroine".

He said the statue, titled Alison Lapper Pregnant, made a worthy companion to Nelson's Column.

May I just add Alison Lapper is a very couragous woman and I admire her greatly.

Yes a statue of Mary Seacole would go hand in hand with the ethos of the West. Im surprised they havent co-opted her life story to pacify blacks even more.

What Im saying is a statue of Mary Seacole is in effect saying that we praise those of mixed ancestry who helped the British maintain their worldy dominance / that we as African Caribbeans legitimise those who helped and assisted the British in the Caribbean in keeping the black masses down and even in direct massacre of Africans.

Why dont we just lobby for a large Steppin Fetchit stature with caricture black features and stick that in Trafalgar Square.

And your wrong again with Ghandi. Ghandi was a man who supported the British in South Africa and only opened his mouth when the ruling government dared to put Asians in the same category as Africans and treat them the same.

We are less than 3% in a white majority country and you expect them to put up black icons in the capital of their country for our benefit. Next you'll be saying why isnt Marcus Garvey's bust on a plinth.
