School fight involving evacuees ends with 3 injuries, 5 arrests
01:28 PM CDT on Tuesday, September 13, 2005
From 11 News Staff Reports

A fight broke out between Louisiana evacuees and Houston students at a southeast Houston high school Tuesday morning.

AIR11
Three students were taken to area hospitals with injuries from the altercation.

When it was over, three Jones High School students were in the hospital and five were in police custody.

The scene got even uglier when parents arrived.

A loud verbal confrontation broke out between mothers of some of the students involved in the first fight.

"They jumped on my nephew inside this school, busted him in the head. They're sending him to the hospital," yelled one woman.

Police separated the group of women and threatened to arrest them if they didn't calm down.

KHOU
A verbal confrontation broke out between the students' mothers who showed up at the school.

"Let us work it out, OK?" one HPD officer told the angry parents.

One mother of a student who was arrested ended up in handcuffs herself.

The first fight started around 9 a.m. when a bus rolled up carrying Katrina evacuees enrolled at the school.

According to police, someone threw a can at one of the evacuees and that set off a fight involving several students.

Ambulances were called to the scene to take the injured to Ben Taub Hospital. It's not clear whether they were evacuees or Houston students.

Of the five arrested, Two are from Louisiana and three are Houston students.

KHOU
Three Houston students and two from Louisiana were arrested.

Witnesses at the scene say today's incident was retaliation for another altercation on Friday.

About 200 evacuees are attending Jones High School in the 7400 block of St. Lo. That's the largest number of evacuee students in any Houston school.

HISD officials say a total of 3,000 Louisiana students are attending their schools.

Hmmmmmm.........

Houston is about half if not mostly Mexican.

I wonder if this wasn't a fight between Black kids and Mexican youth.

At first I overreacted and started cursing AfroAmericans when I heard about this, then I jumped back and examined things more thouroughly.

Sometimes you have to read between the lines.

Black people down south have a different mentality and are more intolerant of racism than Black people out West in places like Texas and California. Whites and Blacks get along pretty good but neither tolerate the arrogant or isolationist attitude of Asians and Latinos too well.

Check it.....

The incident took place in a school in SouthEast Houston.

According to this article:

"This issue was one that initially drew Mothers for Clean Air to southeast Houston with its multitude of pollution sources. The situation, in a predominantly Latino section of Houston, has raised red flags about potential environmental justice issues."

http://www.mothersforcleanair.org/ab...t_houston.html

So southeast Houston is a mostly Latino section of the city, so that would mean the school would have to be mostly Latino also. It's hard to believe that with all these hostile Mexican kids beefing with Black students already, that the Blacks would turn on their own who just arrived from New Orleans.

Besides, there aren't a lot of "black gangs" in Texas anyway, most of the gangs are Latino.

I'm gonna have to do some more research on this, the media is trying too damn hard to discredit and demonize the victims of America's worst natural disaster for me tobelieve half of what they say.

Am I my brother\'s keeper?
YES I AM
