We as Black people need a new global culture that we all can participate in that crosses all regional and ethnic boundaries.

Our very survival as a race depends on it.

This new culture should be based on science and knowledge rather than religion and tradition.

Omaar i think u raise a good point actually, people say it cant be done. I believe it can be done!!!

I think 1 of the biggest probelms we face as a race, as that we dont believe we can change anything. Change starts from the indivdual, then the family then friends then the community. If we can start 2 build from the bottom up, things will change.....

If whites can bring Blacks from different countries and vastly different ethnic groups/tribestogther through slavery and colonization in a way they never considered...surely we can do it among ourselves.

Look what hiphop has done in attracting and uniting Black youth across the globe.

I think the Black male's ego is the biggest obstacle.

The reason why I say this new culture should be based on knowledge and science is because TRUTH is the only thing that's universal. Too often we use emotion, "intution" and whether or not a person sends of "good vibes" in judging eachother. This is too animalistic and backwards.

We need to start using more rational thinking when making decisions and choosing leaders rather than going with what and who feels right at the moment.

@Omaar: It sounds like a tough job butmaybe not impossible. There are alot of organisations and opportunities for people at this end that could try and create or maintain links with our people worldwide and vice versa. Direct trade alone is one way. Economic stability, sustainabilty and social inclusion in mind could help it along but it depends on the HOW it's being done.

It doesn't necessarily have to be on at an organisation scale all the time either. For examplea group of brothers go out to Africa each year and encourage the community here to send things for them when they're going over. They let us know by local radio when and where they are meeting to collect the goods, what type of goodswe cansend before they fly out. No big banners, or large sums of money just a group of brothers who want and are helping. I'm sure they aren't the only ones that do this type of thing. It's just one example of what we can do rather than wait for someone else to. Hearing and getting involved more these things would be both inspiring and encouraging.

I know you talk of a culture based on science and knowledge but if we use ways of our own culture before all this western contamination, science and knowledge is inevitable and a much more of it than we can begin to imagine.

Why do we need a GLOBAL culture? Why can't we celebrate and respect differences culturallybut be aligned politically and economically. We don't need to all think the same, be the same and do the same things.

All we need is ONE organisation that crosses regional and ethnic boudaries but unites everyone politically and economically especially. Personally I don't think we need to be aligned or the same culturally. (Obviously it would more than help but Idon't think it's an absolute necessity)

If black people the world over got together the synergetic elementwould be ridiculous. 2 + 2 would equal 100. But we got too many "know it alls" in terms of black leadership. Everyone has their own idea of how to save black people they don't want to get together and actually TRY. Instead the people who are seeking refuge from these leaders look to others instead.

The single most important part of cultural identity is the language that we speak. For this reason people such as the French have fought for the right to retain the power and influence of their language. Invading powers have always forced people to stop speaking their own language and learn the language of the conquerors. If you are not literate in and use atleast one African language, the way that you think is controlled by the people and country that produced the language that you speak, whether that is English, French, Spanish, Arabic or with their growing power Chinese. Consequently a global black culture must start with all black people learning the same second language, which must be an African language, though which one could be open for discussion.

Without a common language nothing else will matter. Most nations have schools where they teach their next generation using languages that were spoken by their ancestors. If black people do not establish black schools for black students, where subjects are taught in an African language, nothing else will matter and a black global culture and identity will never be established. This is not pessimistic, but realistic and though not easy is in my opinion the only way forward.

It will not work

religion and traditional customs will always shape each culture.

now if we instead unite without comprimising our cultures, by conducting buisness together and have an allied army that can protect from hostile invasion.

Yeh Im part of a culture, as new as our oppression. Its called a REVOLUTIONARY CULTURE. It comprises of any language as long as the content is for the change of the system. It comprises of any style of clothing as long as it protects the individual to carry out organised revolutionary work. It comprises of any genre of music as long as the music is about organising and the proceeds of that music goes towards the benefit of revolutionary work.

To be down with this cultureyou have to do more than talking, conversations, complaints and debates whether on the internet, on the radio orin meetings. All discussions have to beconclusive to active results and practical work, you have to organise your skills, abilities and resources, you have to physically or resourcefully participate.

This is a freedom culture, cus thats the all we need, and its practiced by revolutionaries in the UHURU Movement in UK, USA, Congo, France, Spain, South Africa, Holland, and more places soon to be popularised at. Anyother culture is either non-effective to our progress or taking us further back.

All thoseindividualistic undercover revolutionaries that always got somn to complainabout but kno they really aint in it, this is your chance to become productive. Click on the link below.

UHURU means FREEDOM <---- New culture!!!

Omar,

Good suggestion but for many Blacks their original culture is all that they have. It [Culture] is suppose to be fluid. The Japanese have done it, the Indians have done it and the Chinese are doing it but in the Black sphere you have a severe reluctance even if it is outright wrong, destructive, divisive and backwards.

Examples:

Look at any of the postings regarding American Black Culture where Real Brother defended negative practices as Black. Look at how people here on BC or around the US will live here and participate in American Culture yet defend the corrupt practices back in their homes. Look at the argument of slavery with continentals. One moment Colonialism and Slavery was wrong but when you talk about certain cultural practices in the past and present people go into denial or try to rationalize it or the place of women in their society or other backwards practices.

I'm all for that but in order to have this you need strong leadership and this is what we all lack. In the USA we have too much wealth in order to depend on one leader; In the caribbean the leadership is incompetent and stuck on Tourism, there is a vacuum in Brazil, and Africa......

I'm interested in seeing how hypothetically something like this would happen, enlighten me.

Peace

My Thoughts

Why do we need a GLOBAL culture? Why can't we celebrate and respect differences culturally but be aligned politically and economically. We don't need to all think the same, be the same and do the same things.

Right now at this point in our development I think we definately need a global culture for all Black people because we're in such bad shape all unnecessary divisions and barriers between us should be broken down to avoid conflict.

There's no way we can be properly aligned politically and economically without being on the same page socially.

Being of the same culture doesn't mean we all think the same, think of your personal culture and the people you grew up with...did you all think the same and turn out to be cookie-cut clones of eachother?

We're all individuals no matter how similar our backgrouds are.

You said too many of us want to be boss, this is what happens when you have too many cultures and groups floating around in the community....there is no structure or organization.

The Japanese have done it, the Indians have done it and the Chinese are doing it but in the Black sphere you have a severe reluctance even if it is outright wrong, destructive, divisive and backwards.

This is why it's so important that shake off the shackles of our old cultures and adopt a new one. The former cultures as well as most of the bad habits we've picked up in the West are fast leading us down a road of destruction that can very well spell the end of our existance as a race.

People don't believe the Black race can be exterminated from this Earth. Many think some sort of Savior will float down from heaven and save us before it happens....they just don't know how real our liquidation can be.

Unfortunately (to some) the only way it could happen with most of our people in the shape thier in today is by force...and that's what it's gonna take.

Some sort of disaster or catastrophe that dissolves thier reliance on white people, where whites no longer have so much power over us and potential Black leaders can naturally rise and assume thier proper positions.

You're right about wealth in America being too big of a factor. As long as our community is being controled from the outside and this artificial heirarchies of incompetent leaders are being set up in our community by outsiders....the problems will remain.

We need natural self-made leaders who are QUALIFIED to lead by sheer intelligence, skill, and bravery...than these cross-legged puppets being promoted by the media.
