When should we use dead bodies?


I've been reading a very interesting book called Stiff: The Curious Lives of Human Cadavers by Mary Roach, and it mentions that there is a real stigma against using cadavers to test weapons, among other things. My question is, do you think that they should be used to, say, test landmine protection gear, or bulletproof vests?

Put more simply, what limits should we put on the uses of dead bodies to advance legit science?

My opinon: If using my dead body will stop someone from dying, then feel free.

This is not from an Islamic point of view but from my own personal.


Although I don't think dead bodies should be mutilated or desecrated in any way, I see our bodies basically as vessels for our spirit and soul.

Long after the flesh and even the bone decays...the soul lives on and the spirit of life goes back to the Creator.

If the families don't object and the person before dying doesn't make some sort of declaration, I think bodies should be allowed for experimental and medical use.

Corpses should be used for experimental or medical use only with the permission of the deceased ( pre-death ), like when people donate their bodies to science. Even though I know a man/woman is not their body but a spiritual being, it would bother me a littlebecause ones body was their temple. Then again, donating your body to science couldbenefit those still living.
