remember there was this big debate on the BBC about two years ago, looking at the effect that groups like the So Solid Crew had on youngsters. A man pipped in and said that there was no harm "because they were only kids" The thing is I distinctly remember one of them singing about "worshipping the devil" and that "red was his favourite colour"
Are they as harmless as they want to be seen?

Intelligent Hoodlum / P-dot
True true....
But it sent a shiver down my spine that the audience hadn't picked up on this. In the blackaudience's endeavours to deconstruct the media motivation behind lambasting the group, they neglected to recognise that one of the group had utteredwords of a utterly sinister nature.
I believe strongly that people who sing today need to guard against words that could and can inflame thoughts of an unproductive nature. It strike me as interesting that in the Bible many of the books are made up of songs, and when many of the prophets spoke to God it was through singing. This has led me to believe that music is a kind of magic and not simply a shapeless entity that hits your eardrums. Films have harnessed this knowledge by playing music in parts of the film where they want you to cry, laugh be angry or in incur an adrenalin rush. Artist have harnessed this by producing entire genres of music such as heavy metal etc.
Apparently in the Bible satan wore flutes around his waist because he use to lead Gods choir. Frankly I've scoured the bible and can't find that reference at all, nonetheless, I still accept that music is a kind of magic and the words with which you use to play to it should be written wisely.

Yes, Yes Yes Your so right ....and this thread is so boring, we all know the power of music - but as individuals we make choices !
Sosolid chats sh*t, Emimem chats sh*t, 50 Cent chats sh*t, 80% of the UK Gime MC's chat sh*t and this is what the youth listen to and some of the dumb little yout's follow what they hear and end up in prision...
Question is how many yout's ended up "Worshiping the Devil" and having "Red" as their favorite colour cos of what some idiot in so solid said ? I don't know ...but for real this is old news man !
