readone morning on a New York radio station. For those of you who
didn't hear it, this is very deep.Its a heavy piece and a Caucasian
wrote it.

THEY ARE STILL OUR SLAVES. We can continue to reap profits from
theBlackswithout the effort of physical slavery. Look at the current methods
ofcontainment that they use on themselves: IGNORANCE, GREED, andSELFISHNESS.
Their IGNORANCE is the primary weapon of containment. A great
man once said, "The best way to hide something from Black
people is toputit in abook."
We now live in the Information Age. They have gained the
opportunity to read any book on any subject through the
efforts of their fight for freedom, yet they refuse to read. There are numerous books readilyavailable at Borders, Barnes & Noble, and Amazon.com, not to mention their ownBlack Bookstores that provide solid blueprints to reach
economicequality (whichshould have been their fight all along), but few read
consistently, ifatall.

GREED isanother powerful weapon of containment. Blacks, since the
abolition of slavery, have had large amounts of money at their
disposal.

Last year they spent 10 billion dollars during Christmas, out
of their 450billion dollars in total yearly income (2.22%).
Any of us can use them as our target market, for any business
venture we are to dream up, no matter how outlandish, they will buy into
it.Beingprimarily a consumer people, they function totally by greed.
They continually want more, with little thought for saving or
investing.They would rather buy some new sneaker than invest in starting
abusiness.Some even neglect their children to have the latest Tommy or
FUBU, And they still think that having a Mercedes, and a big house gives
them"Status"or that they have achieved their Dream.They are fools! The
vast majority of their people are still in poverty
because their greed holds them back from collectively making
better communities.

With the help of BET, and the rest of their black media that
often broadcasts destructive images into their own homes, we will
continue to see huge profits like those of Tommy and Nike. (Tommy Hilfiger has
evenjeered them, saying he doesn't want their money, and look at how the
fools spendmore with him than ever before!). They'll continue to show off
toeach other while we build solid communities with the profits
from ourbusinesses that we market to them.


SELFISHNESS, ingrained in their minds through slavery, is one
of the major ways we can continue to contain them. One of their
own,Duboissaid that there was an innate division in their culture. A
"Talented Tenth" he called it. He wascorrect in his deduction that there are segments of their
culture that has achieved some "form" of success. However,
thatsegmentmissed the fullness of his work. They didn't read that the
"Talented Tenth" was then responsible to aid The Non-Talented Ninety Percent in
achieving a better life. Instead, thatsegment has created another class, a Buppie
class that looks down on their people or aids them in acondescending manner. They will never achieve what we have. Theirselfishnessdoes not allow them to be able to work together on any project orendeavorof substance. When they do get together, their selfishness lets theiregos get in the way of their goal. Their so-called help organizations
seem to only want to promote their name without making any real
change intheircommunity.

They are content to sit in conferences and conventionsin our hotels, and talk about what they will do, while they award plaquesto the best speakers, not to the best doers. Is there no
end to their selfishness? They steadfastly refuse to see that TOGETHEREACH ACHIEVES MORE (TEAM)

They do not understand that they are no better than each other becauseof
what they own, as a matter of fact, most of those Buppies are butone or two pay checks away from poverty. All of which is under thecontrolofour pens in our offices and our rooms.

Yes, we will continue to contain them as long as they refuse
toread, continue to buy anything they want, and keep thinking
they are"helping" their communities by paying dues to organizations
which dolittle other than hold lavish conventions in our hotels. By
the way,don'tworryabout any of them reading this letter, remember, 'THEY DON'T READ!!!!


Sterotypical, racistor does it pocess elements of truth?

It's good to be back on BN!!

This article is quite far reaching, and as hard as it is for some to read, there are elements of truth that we can, if viewed objectively, can see. One instance for example is that many in our community do not view educational attainment as a priority into improving their situation; many put more stock on entertainment and sport, as well as materialistic issues.

However, I will say, that although many of these issues do effect the balck/african demographic, all the issues spoken of are traits of simply being Working Class, regardless of race.

Looking around London, people of similar economic backgrounds tend to have similar outlook and values of what is deemed "success" in their eyes. For example, some youths see educational attainment, regardless of the doors it truly opens, is secondary to getting a car, sky, cubic zirconia earring etc.

My question to the the BN reader of the article is if they would be more receptive to some of it's content if it were written by an African academic? Is this a case of the writer's race getting our backs up, as oppsed to some of it's content?

Like I said, the article, although I don't agree with it all, undoubtably shines the light on certain shortcomings that some in our community (as well as other working class people) have...

My guess is that it was written by a black guy. I refuse to believe white people are that insightful. The white people I come into contact with do not see those things the same way at all. Indeed they think we are lucky to have BET and MTV BASE and express how unfair such things are LOL.... I think it was one of us writing to kick us up the backside... Interesting presentation.

For some reason, I think that an African American wrote this. You want the real picture of Africa America and that about summed it up.

People move out of the neighborhood and will not help the same neighborhood when they get some money. Will buy clothes from Hilfinger a confirmed racist for eternity but will not shop in an African American clothing store. even our NAACP which the writer basically described in a nutshell now hands out awards to people who do nothing in the community.

Even here in the place where the revered MLK was killed where I am the NAACP is run by kids in an office that is rarely open and unknown at that who are just holding a position, yet at the end of the year, the NAACP holds an awards banquet to give out prizes. Yet the first thing that comes to my minds is....." You mofos ain't did sh*t, why are you handing each other awards?"

As depressing as that article is, it is very sadly the truth here. Not everyone but 99.99% true. For every 1 person trying to make a change you have 9999 that are only out for themselves.

I would bet my left nut(if I possessed them)that a Caucazoid did not write this,however a great deal of the message is on point,even if it does have a whiff of that mythical "Maya Angelou"poem about it.

Playing devils advocate here about this "a caucasian couldnt of wrote this". Could that not be a case of our pride being stimulated, causing us to under-estimate and benieve. Especially if we agree with the words written.

I remember reading this article in the New Nation newspaper way back in 2000. Steve Pope came across it on the net and he decided to print it on his page, because he agreed with the statementthat wasbeing made.

And as he correctlypointed out, the person who wrote the article was a black guy who was pretendingbe a white supremacist.He called himself,Willy Lynch the II.

I expect he washoping to stir up some serious contraversy. For all the right reasons of course.
