Hackney shooting

New year knife madness

New Cross stabbing..

It seems to me with all the recent stories of gun or knife deaths recent that our young people appear to be on suicidal tip at the moment anything to get themselves killed..... Whats going on...

And where pray tell is young people getting firearms froms?

You know what scares me...? It's that these youths (bwoy, I'm sounding OLD) have so much front and value life so little. These guys in 2006 will STAB you calmly and not care about the consequences of anything. I'm not saying their fearless, but they just have NO appreciation, empathy and are callous to a degree that was previously held by hardened criminals.

I haven't given up hope, but I'm really fearful about bringing up kids in a City that has such... EVIL influences...

I'll quickly mention the effect of American Cultural imperialism that have eroded the values and hopes of the Windrush generation. Especially in the last 20 years things have changes to the extent where one brother wouldn't harm another, to one of open warefare in parts of this City, and other major urban areas in the UK; killing themselves over nothing more than a postcode...

Even if you're not paranoid, that doesn't mean that someone isn't out to get you...

Ingonyama: Really do you think stiffer sentences will make a difference? Because I'm not so sure.. I personally know of a yout..who got two years for wrong tings...got out and within weeks of his release was involved in robbery and gun play... even when he was facing life..him nuh care.... Its almost like dem dead from the neck upwards.

Well Sir, at least they will be off the street for a long time, and yes I do belive the heavy sentences for the recent gun crimes has made these guys think twice!

There are many reasons as to why our youth are the way they are, it's just unfortunate that the finger always seems to point back to us as a people.

Longer prison sentences...................I don't think so! I know people that work in the prison service and it burns me to see my taxes being spent on feeding, clothing and entertaining these people that think that jail is some sort of holiday camp or a place to have a break away from the heat on the streets.

The guns came with the East European and Ukranian/Russian mafia that hit the EU. Where else did the Kalitchnikovs (sic) come from?

These princes are turning into zombies everyday, where is the motivation to keep straight? School? Home? Workplace? Media? I get the feeling that these children are not understanding that their lives are priceless gifts and are we giving them the values that they need?

Im thinking if people were thinking about concequences they wouldnt do any of it. A year in jail or ten years aint really gonna make a difference. Like someone is gonna think "hmm I can afford to spend a couple of years in jail so ill stab this boy" or " man I cant do ten years so im gonna let this boy keep running up his mouth and do nothing"

I imagine its more a case of being in a certain frame of mind or not, if you are then aint no ammount of sentencing gonna change that. They have the death penalty in certain statesof America yet people still murder.

What's happened to the voices of the elders in our community? shouldn't they be saying something about this? why is it always left with other people to voice their concerns?

Good point..but the problem appaers to be in some cases that they are not listening to those elder voices...

BP: Not sure if i agree with your view....from an elders view my thoughts are these...why does the youth insist on learning the lesson the HARD way... Surely if someone who is twice your age tell you that getting hit by a car is gonna hurt...why is it necessary to step in front of a car just to find out if its true..sorry but that dumb!!!
