Greetings all,

I was following the situation with the riots in the UK via these boards prior to the shutdown. What ever came about due to those events? It never made 4th page news in the states, all we got was the info on France but that was for obvious reasons (US-France Conflict)

Masai05,

Are you talking about the race riots between the Black brits and South Indian Brits? I've been trying to find that one out myself. Maybe I missed ITN or something, but I never recalled it making the news like the riots in France.

I thought the scapegoating of this site was an act of cowardice by the law enfrcement agency(ies) of UK.......also feel that black media outlets should have done a better job of releasing info and separating fact from fiction...

but thought it was very simple and stupdi to blame the rantings on a website with any violence...

the problem was long brewing and very complex....not as easy as blaming a few off hand remarks on a website....

bottom line....

Be interesting to see what happens to Nick Griffin of BNP fame for doing pretty much exactly the same thing.

... here's what ...

Lynched by 11 Asians,
22 October 2005, aged 24 ...
only 3 people charged with
his murder to date!

Organisation that actively campaigns for cultural,
economic, political and social justice on behalf of
the African community

To: Ligali
Date: 2 November 2005
Subject: taking responsibility

Dear Toyin

Ligali and some other Black media outlets must take some responsibility in fueling a climate of race hatred.

Instead of showing leadership to African people by targeting its attention to potential criminals Ligali -by calling for an Asian boycott - sort (sic) to demonise a whole continent of people over an incident which may or not have happened.

Its present rethoric is in danger of doing the same again over the murder of Ishiah Young-Sam.

For a long time Ligali has been a positive force in the British Black community. It must live up to that high standard and not behave like right wing groups that take the actions of a few to stereotype a generation.

Simon Woolley
Director OBV

"Operation Black Vote is a non-party political campaign, supported by a broad coalition of mainly Black organisations ... The term 'Black' is a political term. It refers to African, Asian, Caribbean and other ethnic minorities."

"When I first came to London from Leicester 20 years ago, I got a job with a company based in Redbridge and the boss happened to be Jewish. In Leicester, the only time that you met a Jew was in a joke. As schoolchildren we'd say, 'Don't be a Jew, give me a sweet'. But you never associated such comments with a people.

Working with Jewish people I did understand very quickly that there was a vernacular and a discourse that I needed to adopt to belong. The street vernacular: It's a schlepp over there; don't be a schnorer. I used go to the Schvitz with my Jewish friends and the team of schmeissers, we used to take turns and give each other a rub down with the lulluf, and you used call someone a schmooser and a lulluf on the phone.

I got very close to this group and I used to go to Bar Mitzvahs and family celebrations. I remember one particular Bar Mitzvah when there was a knock on the door and the Mohel walks in to this house full of Jewish people there and the first thing he does is call out 'Simon, what are you doing here?' And where I knew him from was down the Schvitz.

But there is the prevailing legacy of racism. I was invited round to the boss' house for dinner on a Friday night with all his family. And they asked me how I was getting on with my flat, and I said. 'It's all right but he's a right Jew'. And everybody just stopped eating their food, and I realised what I'd said. What I'd meant to say was 'He's mean'. I realised what I'd said. I apologized. I explained that I was from Leicester and they said they understood, they knew me to be a good man, but from that moment on I realised that people can say it's only a joke but it isn't. We're still friends to this day."

I'm laughing so hard.

I'm surprised they didn't fling him out on the street.

Or give him a loan and force repayments.

Big fist to the Legali network! I've been hearing quite a bit about you guys through the Uhruh Movement.... why isn't there a big fist as a Smilie on here?... I'm gonna opt for one in a forum.

The riots in B.Ham have just been slid under the table, it didn't get much air play on the news all they showed was some black youths robbing an asain for his phone. IT was downplayed just like the riots in France-

(not (much) to do with two kids and an electrical pylon, its to do with the situation in the Ivory coast and the fact that a good 1000 refugees were killed in Paris in seperate incidences, bad housing caused fires apparently)

-AND in Austrailia, Ok, it was all about ''Leb bashing'' but it was anyone with dark skin they were after not just the lebanese.

I haven't heard anything about the situation in B.ham at all, they were supposed to be boycotting asain stores and setting up black owned business for the women to buy their fake hair from (dear lord god what has it come to) but from what i see in London our women are still quite happy toperm their hair with (probably) white people productsfrom Asain stores and I've not heard news of anyone taking lead and starting a chain of stores to support the community and our own...

-Bleach yo' self Hair Ltd-

Or

-Don't ask why black men are marrying white women when you fight to look like them, heck we may as well marry them just to get along like youLtd-

Havent really taken off yet but no doubt they will.

I was also dissapointed about this sites role in the matter, its a shame cause ALL the pirate stations were taken out and this site went down as well. Our voice was taken away incase any REAL issues were talked about. In my opinion we were pimped. In NO WAY would I like to see beef with Asains in London but to hold people back from discussing the matter is just singing along to the Imperial song, censorship at its worst.

Not sure it was the Southern Indian folk, I think it was the Pakistani people but on the real they disrespect us black people just like theArabs do and its because we dont respect ourselves in that we aren't exactly a united community (in england at least). The air between us has changed a bit, I've noticed a bit of animosity in clubs that wasn't there before.

I'd go as far as saying that what happened in B.Ham may have been started on a ruse from god knows where (coughsin the direction of a conspirisory)and played on Asains feelings after so much had happened in their region... Tsnami/the muslems.. was there an earthquake last year? Its a shame because we used to stick together when our parents came over to this country. We were all black then. Asains used to say they were Trinidadian to avoid being beaten up by white people, we were united until the divide and conquerstratergy came to....In my secondary school they got the rough end of things quite a bit... it was really bad actually, sad and unnessary. As black people we weren't really attacked because we'd stick up for ourselves but yeeesh those white boys would lay into Asains on a regular basis.

(This is from 1994-2000 btw, not 1980 btw, oh how things change)

I got kicked off for talking aboutthe situation last time and I've just been allowed back on. Just to say...

THIS IS NOT INFLAMMATORY!

I have an Asain girlfriend and am (apparently) part Asain myself (might be East african or something I admit, my bro has reddish skin and straightish hair. Grandma says shes 1/4 ''Indian'').

This is just a comment. Ie; Freedon of speech. Please send me a PM if I've crossed a line and don't ban me again, theres no need.

Peace

Rebel-lion

What follows are the words of a white man:

Sentencing the trio at Birmingham Crown Court, Mr Justice Mackay said the 23-year-old victim had been set upon for no other reason than the colour of his skin.

Mr Justice Mackay said: "The four men (Mr Young-Sam, his brother and two friends) were set upon because they were Afro-Caribbean and for no other reason.

"They had done nothing to these defendants and done nothing to incur or justify hostility.

"What led to the death of Isiah Young-Sam was the colour of his skin."

The judge continued: "(These defendants) were fuelled by the mob violence which they could have resisted, could have turned away from, which they failed to do."

Asking the defendants to stand, Mr Justice Mackay said: "You've been convicted of a most serious offence, the murder of Isiah Young-Sam, a young man with great promise who had done you no harm.

"Your action was racially aggravated and you are also party to the grievous wounding of his companion.

"The sentence for murder is fixed by law and is one of life imprisonment."
