It was his first cow birth, and the calf was stuck. He had to dig deep inside to help the calf come out. The next day he had to gather the chicken eggs.

Anyone ever wondered if they could live an agricultural life. Are black people still interested in an agricultural lifestyle?

Now that we've broken the ice, how does everyone feel about farming and raising animals..

You wrote the question like that purley to grab attention. But in answer to that question, no, I don't think black people are interested, not British ones anyway.

I remember the fuss the BBC made over a black man who was the first ever black man to become an active farmer.

I used to help my neighbour planting crops/ callaloo yam/ pumpkin etc..and herding his goats every day as he had a bad foot for a while when I briefly lived in the Carribean. I also got a lesson on the medicinal qualties of many a wild bush.

Yes its something I would like to do again with my own plot of land. Most youths in JA have forgotten about agriculture/ probably because the country is flooded with foreign agricultural products that drive down the cost of their own products and make it less appealing.

Id love to be a farmer. Not too keen on livestock though. Prefer the green stuff.

Either plants animals or both. I'd love to see more blacks in agriculture myself. I think it's one of the fundamental keys to true independence. You save alot of money when you plant your own vegetables. Even though some places that we live in the west have horrible soil to where you have to put all kind of foreign chemicals and/or steroids to stimulate growth.

That would be great. You could save a lot of money. Think about how much you'll pay for the seeds etc and compare this to the money you'd pay if you'd bought it from the tertiary industry. So for my own benfit yes! I'd love to. But to get into and stay inthat type of industry you really have to love it. It's very hard work. Quite a bit of care, attention, nurturing etc. Climate/weather, prices, demand, costs, can often fluctuate and leave you quite vulnerable if you hope to make a living off it, or at least some sort of significant profit.

If it was just in my back yard, for my benefit. Then yes. Otherwise, no. Call me lazy, but working on a farm is extremely demanding. Not trying to set myself up for something I could not dedicate myself to. My money would be wasted. Hopefully, anyone I may marry is not/will not bea farmer

...they would expect me to help...

...no thankyou .

My manicure would undoubtedly suffer.smoking-devil. Not trying to set my nails up for that type of trauma.

Nope. Not me.
