Can you continentals, or others whohave travelled to Africa, tell me some nice places to visit in Africa? I plan on making my first trip, but want to know which places I could have a good time. I am not like some Westerners/Diasporans that think they are going to see a jungle just because they go to Africa...in fact, that is of least interest.
By the way, Iobviously speak English, but I knowsome Arabic and French, although I would like tonot have too hard of a time onlyknowing English and I am unsurehow much fun there could be instrictly Muslim parts since some areas are still stoning people.
I would like to meet people, party abit, perhaps do the tourist thing taking pictures, beaches are nice but not necessary, and ofcourse learn more about the cultures. I don't know guys...that is why I am asking for your help.Anyhow, your suggestions are much appreciated...

I would recomend Gambia, mali, Ethiopia, Senegale and Zimbabwe(yes, Zimbabwe...i saw Monkey's video of when he was there and they HAVE some of the best cenery in the world!...you must go there...the arts are amazing and the Victoria falls..niceone.gif)

Senegale and Mali are perfect for partie since they have some of the best heritage in music.....Mali still has some of the ruins of the old Kingdoms and Senegale still has the slave departing quarters where a lot of African Americans visits everyyear. Gambia has THE beaches And all three still have very rich cultures that are still in tact to a great extent.

Ethiopia will give you the opportunity to become camera obssessive because there is so much to see......and the culture is probably one of the best ones that is still in tact.....niceone.gif

And if you ever want to get lost, visit Madagascar......it will leave you breathless.

Thanks Mez...I am going to try to hit a few different spots on my trip. I may have to talk to an agent on how to coordinate all of this.

You can't beat cape town for night life. The african jazz there is amazing. Good food and scenery. The beach and sea like you wanted. There is lots of other stuff to do there too.

Kenya or Senegal.
Kenya, one of the best in whole of Africa. Don't go where all go "wildlife Safari", but the best kept secret of Kenya is its coastal shores. Thebeach resorts and hotels are well kept and safe. Northern Nyali Beach is the best beach I have been to in my life, I have been to alot. Mombasa is the place to be,if you need gifts, or any African crafts. If there are kids going, Nairobi is place to see.

What exactly are you looking to do?
My experiences:
Ethiopia-lots of history ,and your money will go far.Addis and Axum are a must.Lots of Italians there
Kenya-I did the game reserve thing and had a ball. That can get pricey
South Africa-best bet for the convienances of Europe/States excellent infrastructure, but Capetown is a tourist trap.
Djibouti-not much there except suba diving
Eriteria-same
Namibia-not much except in capital city, lots of arid land and wide open spaces.Germans have that I think.
Zim-Cool place but the poverty slaps you in the face.Victoria Falls alone makes you believe there is a God.
Botswana-I enjoyed myself and want to return

If going to Southern Africa, try not to do the obvious.
For example, in South Africa, Durban and Port Elizabeth are way more interesting than Cape Town, although Cape Town has some breathtaking views. But, Soweto is where its at!!!!In Zimbabwe, Vic Falls is lovely, but I would reccommend Kariba, Inyanga, obviously Masvingo, (home to the Zimbabwe ruins) and Chinhoyi. Maputo, in Mozambique is lovely. Also worthvisiting Botswana, and Namibia, they arebeautiful countries as well. Kenya, overatedin my opinion.

I am not sure exactlywhat I am looking for. I just know I want to have a good time, but also get a better feel for some African cultures on the continent.
Also, I figure people can turn to this thread in the future when they want ideas for a vacation or interesting trip.

Zululand kwazulu Natal is intresting, the coastline is beutiful and unspoilt, visit the Boar war battle fields with a guide!! Cape town is very good, Durban is not so nice, so humid!!! dont go to kruger park or similar! they are just boring and rip offs!!
