Does anyone here give to charity? You know those people that acost you on road as you go about your daily business and try to get you to hand over your worldly fortune to causes such as Amnesty International and Red Cross etc?
I'm very sceptical about giving to them because I can;t be sure that my whole pound coin is gonna reach the good causes they are working for. Infact, by the time everyone above has taken their cut for wages and expenses or whatever, what EXACTLY goes to the good cause? I'm not entirely sure so I'd like someone to clarify this for me cos I wouldn't wanna have the wrong impression if all money donated does indeed go where they claim its going. But I've always thought that if this was the case, then wouldn't cirtain countrys be in a much better state considering how long a lot of charitys have been camaigning for?

When you think about all the people that are sceptical like yourself how much money do you really think those charities get? That being said how u reckon these countries should be in a better position? I'm not having a go at you but just think about it like that.
I signed up to two charities last yr, one for england and one for abroad. In total I'm giving £8 a mth to charity which is a minor ting cos I can waste that on rubbish in a hot second. But at least I know it is making a difference elsewhere, because I do believe my money is going to where it's supposed to be going. These charities don't just spin you a line to get your money and you never hear from them again, they send you regular correspondence so your up to date with what is going on.
If you wanna sign up to charity but you are unsure then you can do the following things:
Check out the charities website
Check the registered charities no
If your stopped on the street take all the details of the person: full name, badge no, what charity they are working for etc. then run a check on them.
Speak to someone you know has been signed up to a charity for ages, find out what experiences they have had

Don't let that be the reason you are giving to charity, do it because u want to.

That depends on what shelooks like. Charity I mean.smoking-devil
My bad, couldn't resist that. Sure, give. But try to do it directly as much as possible, and on a person-to-person basis. Charities are rather impersonal and cold.
The two most common elements in the universe are hydrogen and stupidity.

The biggest charity, Red Cross, always holds on to the money donated. They even withheld the money that was donated for the victims of the 9/11 attacks after raising over $1 billion! They were called to aCongressional hearing after 9/11 to discuss why they had only dispersed $154 million of the donated money.

The United Way, and most of the big names are all the same way. Especially with Katrina, but the Red Cross is there in 24 hours when its is an earthquake in Pakistan or a tsunami in Indonesia/India.

Ya see its things like this that make me sceptcal. I think I would feel more comfortable if I was doing something charitable in a more physical sense. Like adopting and african child or some kind of counselling work with victim or abuse or the such like. Blindly givin money does not fill me with confidence at all. At the end of the day, as far as charity fund raising is concerned, somebody has to get paid in the end right?
