Lucas: Ok lets deal withthe semantics of this post on a point by point basis...
1. Was it wrong for people to demand that Dimoke aka Mezmerise explain her comments no..that is totally reasonable..
2. Did she call all Yardies 'barstard' no she clearly did not,
3. is dimokes words indicative of 'double standards' in my opinion no...because taken as a whole I see nothing to tell me that these are dimokes personal views.. What I read into the situation in context is that SHE took issue with the word 'bitch' being used in the context of women... That is in my view also a very reasonable comment to make..
4. Was Dimokes analogy the best way to convey her feeling, no it wasn't because it obviously derailed her initial argument..
5. Is Dimoke indicative of wider held beliefs that Jamaicans are 'barstards' no I see no evidence of that prevasive view..but If i'm wrong I'm sure you'll point it out..
6. But lets get to the crux of the matter, did the Moderation team Agree with Dimokes view, are we biased against people from the Caribeans...Lucas this more than anything I personally find the most insulting inference...
It is a FACT that the Moderation team is heavily weighted in FAVOUR of Africans from the Carribean... It is a FACT that my heritage and that of at least THREE other moderators are from the same place.. It is a FACT that many of us regard that part of the globe as our home and the home of our familes.. I've posted pictures of my last trip there I've discussed it on various levels...
So perhaps you can explain to me and all the other members of the Moderation team, and the owners I might add who also come from the same place..why in all that is holy we would want disrespect the place where our familes come from..because that it what i find most confusing..
The problem that I and the other mods have with this nonsense is that somehow we are expected to take up Willie Lynch style tribal positions to continue on this the STUPIDNESS that kept our parent backwards for years..and what I'm saying quite clearly is OVER MY DEAD BODY...I won't do it...
There is one standard not an African one or a Jamaican one or an American one..BNv is not here to highlight and make worse the differences..we are trying to highlight the many common areas we do share thats it fullstop...
Now in CONTEXT of that thread as far as i see..one posters made a quite obvious sexist statement to reinforce his views, another poster made an equally Poor analogy in order to convey her disgust at the first action... I then see other posters bring her to book over her opening remarks... The offences in both cases were picked up, discussed and argued...
I fail to see where there was a need for additional Moderator input beyond what took place..in the Absence of..
a complaint from either you, Black power or anyone else who took offence,
acomplaint from Dimoke raising her grievance..
The discussion spirally out of control...
Or the consistent behaviour of any poster in that thread who appeared to be deliberately causing offence for the sake of it...
Now you asked me for my view that is it..but I suspect it won't be enough because unless I lash Dimoke publically..you will not feel happy that I or the moderation team have acted accordingly...
My overall thoughts are these, some of the behaviours I'm now seeing on this forum, is reflective of the current state of football..where one member of team actively tries to get the opposition player sanctioned by exagerrating the offence to their own benefit... sorry but from here it beginning to feel very petty and very infantile.

When Happiness spoke on THAT thread..can you please tell me HONESTLY was she speaking on BEHALF of the BNV moderation team, did she EVER make reference to BNV policy..Did she state that you must adhere to her thoughts in line with BNV protocol...?
Come on now you are simply reaching here...It is clear if you had bothered to look at this OBJECTIVELY that Happiness with a Naija flag waving proudly as her Avatar spoke passionately as an AFRICAN...not as a BNV MOD.. on a thread about HER country...Nigeria..that is her progative..

I clearly said that the comments that were anti-American did not offend me right before listing them. In most cases, I agree with what is put forth. I was only making a point that "American" issues are discussed all the time, but if we introduced the same divisiveness as some continental Africans when discussing them then we would be called all kinds of names. We generallyaccept all views and usually have a good discussion. Basically I was neverarguing against anti-American sentiment.

Then Thoth..I have to ask the obvious question given your responses above....what exactly was the basis of your allegation relating to 'double standards'...?
It seems to me that everyone is picking up on isolated bits of behaviour adding two and two and then making fifty.. How in gods name is that fair...?
You sir posted a whole page with links then attempted to paint a picture that just wasn't there, when the veracity of this evidence is challenged you've retreated into the sunset without so much as an apology...come on now is this reasonable?
Then people wonder why we never move forward, what do people EXPECT with the level of suspicion and counter suspicion flying around the place...Look Thoth the bottom line is Happiness gave her view, and gave it bluntly that is her..that is how she rolls..why is it difficult for some to accept that people have STRONG opinions about certain matters...geeezz

Why shame, people feel slighted all the time. Maybe it'smostly misunderstandings.People should express what they feel instead of letting it fester(within reason of course)
