Why is it that when people start a post on anything controversial concerning continental Africans, the person ends up getting gangbanged over the topic where the thread becomes hijacked? However, whenever thereare topicsconcerning American Africans (whether in politics, entertainment, or casual controversies), you don't see African-Americanssnubbing Britsjust because they aren't African-American even though the topics can very well be at heart with all Africans.
IfI, or any other African-Americans did that here in Blacknet, you would say at least one of 3 things (if not all of them or more):
-Yo', this topic isn't just about you, get over yourself.
-For real, that is the epitome of arrogance.
-You are ignorant, plain and simple.
We don't see these blunt yet rational assessments in the former case, so why the double-standard?

Maybe what you feel is a result of being on the receiving end ofconcious and subconsious backlash. I spoke about this on BN before. I can appreciate your understanding of this and hope you will educate our brothers who grew up like you. Its good you expressed this. Maybe we can discusshow to communicate with more MUTUAL respect. Remember my thread regarding having some humility, even though not everyone swollowed it. I think that's the nature of the truth..doesn't go down easy.
Matter of fact I agree with you Thoth. What you experience here ismy reality everyday in America. Asad exampleisthis negative treatment I had to deal with from black as well as white Americans. It's like you're black2 times(sometimes 3). Remember Hotel Rwanda.... "you're not even N****rs, you're Africans".
No matter howsuccessful as a continental Africanbecomes in America he has more respect from whites than his own people. This also causes the irony of whites knowing more about Africa than African-Americans.

I been saying it from day 1 and will continue to say it, some people on here are out and out hypocrites. But also as BP said there is one rule for a set of people on here and another rule for the rest of us. It happens on forums and it happens in the real world, all I would say is stand up for urself and if u think someone is being a hypocrite say so.

I read your thread on communication and humility. I was going to make a comment, but decided not to because I didn't want to come off bitter with the way my thoughts were festering in my brain at the time.Ultimately, you are correct that more mutual respect and humility needs to be observed.

I know exactly what you mean, because many African-Americans don't even see themselves as African which is really sad. Thosebrothers and sisters just don't see thebig picture, and so although I try to help them however I can, Ido not let them get too close for they will poison my thought-process with the same venom.

So true...LOL. However, let me add that all African-Americans are not like that. We are just stretched thin and far in between. We just need to work on our connectivity not only throughout the America, but throughout the entire African Diaspora and on the continent.

Come on now, there are some people on here who are on a mission to defend all that is American and "gangbang" also. I don't know what the ratio ofAfrican-American posters,to continental African posters and European based Africans is; perhaps this has a bearing in terms of perceptions of "gangbanging" on certain topic. Mypersonal impression as a continental African (living in Europe) is that some posters approach topics on Africa through the prism of US/European biased media and Government representation and do not question these sources stringently enough. I posted on the Hispanics and immigration to the US, and the effects of this on African-Americans, I was rightly reminded that I could not grasp the issue as fully as those on the ground, I accept this but I'm still able to give a perhaps contrary opinion.

There are certain dynamics that you may not be able to accurately ascertain, but I think that you being on the outside (so to speak) makes your opinion rather valuable and more objective than someone in the mix or "on the ground." Therefore, I always welcomeperspectives like yours in regards to African-Americans. To be honest, I haven't seen what you are saying in regards to African-American topics, that is the converse of this thread topic. I guess I will start looking out for that.

@ Athaba
No need to provide evidence, if u opened ur eyes a bit wider u would see it on 90% of the threads in here. No disrespect but it ain't like ur gonna do anything about it anyway.

^^^^^^^ She's got a point and we all know it. Some people on this sight have a warped "blacker than thou" attitude and they will need to get over their own egos for constructive dialogue to occur.

Your answer is simply not good enough. No, you need to provide actual proof. And no disrepect, don't presume to know what we would do thank you.
