An execution which was supposed to take place an hour ago has been cancelled because of the potential pain and suffering caused to the executee.
Now this is what I have been able to glean from the story ive heard.....
They abolished hanging and the electric because apparently it was inhumane, now they are saying that according to execution log-books where lethal injection was involvedthe inmates have been seen suffering long after they were supposed to have stopped feeling anything.
In the lethal injection process there are a cocktail of three drugs used. The first to sedate, the second to paralyze and the third which I believe is called Pavalon is the one which does the business-brings on heart attack, stroke etc.
Now because of these executioner log-books they are now saying an anesthesiologist must be present at all executions to make sure the inmate is properly sedated........and the reason why this execution was postponed was because no anesthesiologist will attend because it is in violation of the Hippocratic oath-or the Imhotep oath, but we won't go there..........
Of course The Terminator is having kittens because he doesn't like any hiccups when it comes to killing folks.
But it does raise the question of whether there will ever be a execution by lethal injection again?? And if they don't use that method, what else is there left to do??
I'm anti-death penalty by the way,but those of you who are pro what do you suggest and do you care one iota whether the convict suffers during his/her death or not?
Just putting it out there, hope to get some responses.

JB the death penalty is such a difficult subject for me, cos i am neither here nor there...i dont like the idea of it all in terms of innocent ppl being put to death, but sometimes i want to press the button myself.
some ppl deserve to die a horrible death in which case i would personally switch the sedative with saline.
for u to have been found guilty and sentenced to death, u must've done something real heinous in which case i could careless if u feel pain or not.
on the other hand..some ppl deserve to rot in jail gettin bum chummed on a daily basis.
see..i told u it was hard for me to decide..lol! confused3

Well i'm opposed to the DP because I dont believe that death is the ultimate punishment, surely losing your freedom has to far more torturous than the "long sleep"?

The other reason I oppose it because of the innocents who slip through the cracks, there have been too many, even if it were just one, thats one too many.

But in terms of painless execution it seems a bit silly but I understand that America is still operating under the pretence of "human rights".

Well if they do abolish lethal injection, maybe they should bring back the guillotine,I cant think of anything more swift, painless and precise than a nice sharp blade.confused3

No if murder means to KILL INTENTIONALLY and with PREMEDITATION, then truthfully the death penalty is also MURDER. Simple really.
They are trying to CIVILISE the act of murdering, by making sure that whoever has got the death penalty feels no pain. It makes it out like they are still the good guys, while the person who has done whatever deed is the barbaric uncivilised guy, who does not deserve to be part of society.
Solitary confinement is a much worse punishment. niceone.gif

First of all, the slogan misses an important point. The death penalty does not punish people for killing, but for murder. Killing is justified when it is done in self-defense. Killing means to cause death. Murder, on other hand, is defined as, "the unlawful and malicious or premeditated killing of one human being by another" (for the less observant, this definition cannot be applied to the death penalty, because the death penalty is lawful, non-malicious, and is not carried out by an individual but by the government). "Kill," "murder," and "execute" are not interchangeable terms. Death penalty opponents would like us to believe otherwise. Just because two actions result in the same end does not make them morally equivalent. If it were so, legal incarceration would be equated with kidnapping, lovemaking with rape, self-defense with battery, etc.[sup][/sup] Therefore, the slogan is better stated, "We execute people to show people that murder is wrong." Not quite as catchy, is it?
