When I read this early this evening I was shocked...but I deliberately kept away and didn't comment although I had some inital thoughts... to see what others would make of this...

This is not about Feminism, at all and how that got twisted up into this...I'll never know, I totally disgree with Rastawoman it is totally legitimate to speculate why a European would premeditately call up a brother and put a suggestion like that to him.. It is also totally legitimate to ask how anybody could haveformed the impression that Black power could be receptive to such a suggestion..the man virtually called him a pimp!!

So I'm really glad the the two burning questions that I wanted to ask was raised constructively by others...and It would be really interesting to know what BP said in response, and to know If that person is STILL his friend..because that is an important question..too

Calisto..made some very good points about the role of women, I agree with her to a point however I would disagree with the point that it is a fight for women alone..it is not...African Men & women have an equal responsiblity to fight things like this, even if our roles in how this is achieved is going to be different...

But what if you needed any of them to speak for you, if you were ever in a tight spot, what if some woman told lie pon you....there is the suggestion there i think that you could be guilty even if you weren't..

but even conversely what if you wanted promotion, or you wanted to set up a ting, in your place of work...and it came down to a choice of you and a someone else.. Is that the first thought you'd what to be known for in such a crucial context...

Black power, whatever you think of me personally..I will tell you hand on heart.. that perception if it exist (because it might not) is not a good one for a Black man...in fact for any man black or white to have... Think how many times have the police arrested or been prepared to arrest us on the say so of NO evidence..or people get sacked on the balance of probabilities.
