from what I gather.....competing countries in europe scrambled inot the continent after Belgium "claimed" a certain territory and began exporting out raw materials and exploiting the people.....

Why there was a scramble for Africa by the europeans ?simple the europeans wanted to exploit the rich resourses and minerals and anything else that Africa had that they could get fat and rich on.
