Because we are Living Beings, we are attracted to that which represents Life and Vitality. Dry, flaky, skin is indicative of less vitality in the skin...or an "unhealthy" condition; and since the Skin is the part of each other that we see most often and most readily, we tend to determine the person's overall health by the indicators we can see, e.g., ashy skin. It may be a very subtle thing, but it's there, in our minds, driving us mad each time we see it...lol
