I was having a conversation with a friend who is a big Sanaa Lathan fan and she wanted to see her new movie called "Something New". I was telling her that movies like that only seek to condition you to get involved in interracial dating at the detriment of your own culture. She was like "It's just a movie and I like her as an actress. I'm not attracted to white men and it won't make me want to date them" I was like, why even go support that kind of movie. she goes "I just like her as an actress".

Few weeks pass by. Her mother happens to go and see the movie by herself, and just so happens to mention it in a conversation. Her mother is new to the country and hasn't been here too long or long enough to get all the cultural idioms and/or nuances. She asks her mother how it was and she replies.. "I regret even going to see that movie, all it does is try to brainwash you into dating white men." When she told me I just laughed. Sometimes there's no reason to say "I told you so"

You know when i first broke up with my ex, everyone took it upon themselves to lecture me on the dating scene. As it happens at that time, most of my girlfriends were dating IR (out of no choice they claimed) and used to subtley fill me up with horror stories of dating black men and great stories of dating white, Asian men... Funny thing, although i was in a long loving relationship with a black man, they dismissed it as one in a million chance, since i had no other experience of dating and relations between black men and women in general i seriously was in danger of getting proper brainwashed. Actually remember the first time i found BN and remember replying to some thread and saying how black men weren't interested in black women blah blah. Now what would make a woman like myself who had a great relatiojnship with one and other than that no bad experience with black men believe something as ludicrus as that?

Brainwashing is serious and works great on people with no experience and those who are young and impressionable, so you were quite right films like that may not work on myself now but will influence a lot of young women.

i think black men seem to have fallen for the brainwashing far more than black women have. black women tend to stick to black men mostly, despite all the negative stereotypes about black men. most black men prefer black women too but there is a large number who seem to despise us and put all other women on a pedestal.

i think we have more to worry about on the male side than the female side. you put pretty non black women in music videos and suddenly many black men feel a girl isnt pretty or isnt that pretty unless she looks like one of those mixedrace or latino video girls. these are the type of girls they would feel most proud to be linked with, itslike a status thing.

i dunno how many white boys you would have to put on tv before black womens starting thinking black men were less attractive than white, mixed or latino men, or felt they had more of a man on their arm just cuz the man was non black. nah, dont worry about black women getting brainwashed, worry about your own black brothers who seem like they need more help not to become brainwashed.
