I don't know...it is mind boggling...

I have seen many times where some of our ig'nant folks will spend all of their tax return or save up their money to buy some rims for their car, where the rims cost more than the car. I have seen the same thing with putting a music system in their ride. The system will cost more than the car they are driving. Imagine that, riding around in a bucket with shiny rims and loud azz music that cost more than your car...boy, my people are certain in the midst of their Dark Ages.

Don't get too high on your horses thinking that you're better than these people.

When I was young, around the age of 11, my mum always told me; "He(name) drives a really nice car, justwork hard and you can have a car like him". Never talked to my mum much. But when it can to encouragement the message was always along those lines.

I hear you BP, but if its in your face all the time...success = nice car, diamonds, pretty girl/boy on your arm, peeps start to believe the hype. This is a worldwide thing, remember the pictures of Milkie's (sp ) vacation in Nigeria?. I personally don't judge these peeps, how other peeps live there lives is up to them. I would be happy to buy a plot of land back home b4 the American and british hotshots take all the space, that would make me proud...but some peeps worry to much bout how they look to the outside world, so big rides and bling makes them happy, if they are happy leave them to it, though I doubt they are truly happy at all.

Respect

@ BP

Tell me, are you applying this attitude about carsonly to people you knowin that neighbourhoodorto everyone in that neighbourhood?

Ifyou are saying the latter, it makes me wonder howyou know so much about the people just by driving through andclocking the car parked outside their door. For all you know they may a reasonably paid job and just happen to like a 'nice' and the inside of their house may be quite well decked out with more than just bean bags. Hey, you never know.

blkthumbsdownTo be honest it's not even about one thinking they're better than others or being judgemental. It's time for many in ourcommunity tocultivate a higher sense of RESPONSIBILITY. When you get past a certain age it's time to start behaving like an adult. Too many of us have this 'here and now' mentality without taking the time to invest for the future.

I can't tell you the amount of times I see some brothas driving these cars that cost several thousand pounds but live in the most shabbiest accommodation that needs decorating and/or maintanencewith flippin' £2000 plasma screen TVs and state of the art hi-fi systems that cost an Arm Leg Leg Arm Head like the freakin' Nation Of Gods and Earths!!!! I know too many with this mentality because some of those with this messed up way of thinking are in my family. They got piles of debt with aterrible credit rating but they feel ignoring it is going to make it disappear.

Don't even get me started on the number of black parents that are buying their children silly amounts of jewelry and expensive clothing when the pickney dem don't evenownone book to teach them about their history or mathematics, ora computer to prepare them for later years. What kind of message is that sending out to our kids? Some of us really have ourselves to blame for the condition we're in. I'm not raisingmy daughter to think that success is all about fashion because we're living in financially unstable times.

Too many of us are needlessly pumping money into a racist system without benefiting ourselves at all and it really has to stop. The last thing on some of our minds is to invest in African charities or anything set up by us for us, but we live to invest in European, American andJapanese corporations that are already making their millions monthly. I know that living in the western hemisphere doesn't leave you with any choice but to purchase goods that come from other countries but it's all about getting our priorities right.

I'm not saying we shouldn't own nicecars, clothes etcbut with the way things are heading in the EUsome of us are going to pay dearly in the future when we realise that all the gizmos and gadgets mean jack all.

It's about 'priorities' but in the highly commercialised societies we live inwith itsstrong emphasis on 'What I have'...no wonder so many people are messed up and end up at the end of the day not owning a damn thing!

What is fundementally wrong with having nice cars?? The cars really don't have nothing to do with you, leave them to it, they will see in a good few years what money is all about, when they have nothing to show for it...
