While in college, I had a friend who was a Frenchexchange studentoriginally from Senegal. I remember her saying that given my sense of humor at times, she sees whyNigerianwomen tend to talk to me before other African-American men. I have recieved similar comments about other aspects of my personality from people indigenous to D.R. ofCongo, Nigeria, and Ethiopia in particular.

When and if you talk to African-Americans in person or here on Blacknet, and even see certain African-American celebrities in movies, music, and such, have you ever connected their particular personality, attitude, demeanor or perhaps looks to certain groupsof people in Africa? I'll start off from what I have heard said by continental Africans...

Jay-Z...Nigerian

Reason: Contemptuous, flashy, and a bit arrogant towards other African music artists.

Melyssa Ford...Congo

(removed)

Reason: Her body shape, and of course, that juicy booty.

with all due respect.....

these african countries were carved up by european colonists.....so I don't know how any personality or social traits can be attibuted to any one "country'..when there are countless ethnic groups that make up that country.......

now countries where the africans were mixed together and a common culture emerged would give you better legs to stand on making comments about traits or habits...like caribeean for example.....

common culture emerges where certain behavior patterns and attitudes become prevalent....

Only exception to what I'm saying is Nigeria....SO many ethnic groups...so many unique cultures but (from Africans..and even Nigerians) I hear the exact same things about Nigerians in general all the time.....wouldn't seem to make sense...but it still happens like clockwork........I'm thinking perhaps common culture emerged there more so than other places....but it's so big and has so many people that on paper this doesn't make sense either...

I agree. I think you just wanted to post some pictures of some half naked girls! But anyway,Throb is probably doing this for fun. Clearly there is no way to tell someone is Nigerian because they are "cocky".

Obviously if some people live together in a certain area they are going to have things in common, so you're logic contradicts what you're saying.
The only thing that always made me think Jay-Z was nigerian was his nose and his lips. As far as personalities goes I dunno man it depends how the personas manifest. But Puff Daddy is straight Somalian though I said that from daaaaaaaaaaay the skin colour, hair and the mouth man no debate!

@ DrunkMonkey & Prince Hakeem

I must say that the very few Congolese women I have personally met had hugenormous booties...and I mean horseback buh-donkey booties. Then when an Igbo friend of mine said Congolese women have the biggest butts of Africans...well, I may be making someassumptions.

@ Kunjufu

For christ's sake man...I swear I get more posts with advisory on them from you than a hip-hop music store. Perhaps I should consider changing my avatar all together to...

But seriously though, sorry about the pictures...

there isn't even a true common language in many of these places.....there is the "official language"French, English...and then the countless laguages, and dialects spoken by the majority of people .....and from what Iunderstand...until very recently..marriage and soicalization was done along ethnic tribal lines almost exclusively...in many places..so where is this common culture...
