Now we are all subjected to the negative images of africa in the news, the poverty, wars , hiv/aids, but beneath all that there is a good continent there, with pockets of wealth, would any one consider moving to Africa. I'll be honest, I wouldnt as I said on another topic, but would y'all move, and why would you and why wouldn't you?

I wouldn't live in Jamaica either although I am of Jamaican descent. Unfortunately, many (NOT ALL) majority Black countries are just not doing well. There is little incentive for me to leave America to live in most Black countries, given the hardships that are there. It simply comes down to opportunities, finances, and the comforts that I have gotten used to living in a developed nation. It doesn't mean that those countries are necessarily bad - I've just gotten used to a certain lifestyle.
There are Black Americans/Caribbean people who do emigrate to Africa. I recall reading many articles about Black Americans emigrating to South Africa after the end of apartheid.

@black aviator, im british born, but of caribbean origin. you are the only person on this forum who would move to africa which is respectable. most people on this forum go on about black pride etc etc, but they are only happy living in white nations, to me it stinks of hipocrasy. those same people who have a go at me for saying sierra leonne is poor, and that liberia is poor wouldnt move to those countries. this whole pride black pride thing is a FAKE. its a gimic so they appear 'more black'. but black aviator, you are not included in the FAKE category, you are a real brother. its like those men who go on about black pride, but would only go out with white girls.this stinks of hipocrasy, rant over.

@Lady Aleisha
Who's the question aimed at? cause if it's aimed at continental Africans then you have your answers as to why no one is paying you no mind. You don't migrate to acontinent/country you come from you go back home. And that's exactly what i'll be doing.
But Iam guessing you just wanted to rant about Africans who are passionate about defendingAfrica. It's becoming a bit of a trend on BN lately so carry on.

Make that two. I would consider going to Africa and taking a lower standard of living - I've got no problem with that. Despite being born here it soon becomes evident that most people don't own much, including your home.
Aids and poverty is everywhere. I even heard bird flu has arrived in the UK - hah!!!Nowehere is safe. And if you think things going to get easier in Western society you couldn't be more wrong.
So, be nice to Africa, they could save your butt one day.

Just like I said in that Kanye West thread Lady Aleisha uses populist militants as a representative for black nationalists, just like RLB in the thread where he's arguing with Kunjufu. That's just like using some simpleton bra-burning feminists as your point of refence for that group.
I've got an aunt who left late last year to run a hotel she developed in Ghana. It took her a long time as she left recently, and I can't really tell you much more than that. I think she still flits back and forth between the two countries.
That's the best way to go about it I say. Just use this place for all it's worth.

Actually i know many somali families who have returned home. I also know a lot of brothers who here in the uk and the us go into trouble with the police did jail time and mad things like that. Know they are staying in somalia for good and a lot them do not want to ever come back. Me personally speaking once i get my degree raise andsum cash am outta here for good. There are plenty of business opportunities in african countries and i would say right here that most parts of somalia are actually safer then some of the places in the uk contrary to what they tell you in the media. However the main problem is that is is really every man for himself aint no government gonna give you benefit or pensions if you want to return home you need to have your finance situation sorted out.

@ Aleisha
I was born in the UK, raised in Africa and presently back here. No need to tell you of my plans, but I can assure you I have no intentions of dying here.
To all who are talking about standards of living, trust me, if you plan right and are focused, you could have and live a far better life back in some places in Africa. Personally, my harshest and hardest years have been spent in this cold lonely west. But I aint complaining

Caribbean people piss me off. Why don't you go back to St.Lucia? You are a fellow immigrant, mind your business and concentrate on your own people.
you all go on and vigorously defend your countries when i say theyre poor
It is the cultures and peoples they are defending, not necessarilythe economy
