People often say that money is the root of all evil. But regardless who came up with that statement to say the love for money is the root of all evil is getting more to the point. Money alone cant be the root. Some people have just enough to live off of. And some of the most evil people have less money or living on bank notes or credit cards.
I often why people say such things and soon afterwards a whole argument is started around it and started over a bunch of ignorance.
The love for money only leads to materialism, cheap and short term pleasures that keep you wanting more and more while becoming less satisfying.
Thats why you should strive to be rich in good spirituality.

I think, LACK of money is the root of all evil...
He confesses his guilt who flies from his trial.

ramm,
the actual line is the "love of money is the root of all evil"..and that comes from the english translation of the bible.....the shorter version of the phrase has made it's way to pop culture(books.films,etc)..so people repeat the pop version......
Me? I prefer the line used on the first page of the book "the godfather" taken from from Balzac..."behind every great fortune there is a crime"
also think africanmix's line is true too....

Salaam to all...
My take on this is that IGNORANCE (lack of knowledge or awareness) is the ROOT of all "evil".
"Evil" in all it's forms, is an expression of SELFISHNESS -- making one's own thoughts, feelings, beliefs, etc. the standard by which the entire universe is measured.
SELFISHNESS can only be present where UNDERSTANDING is absent.
The "Love" of Money is really only an obsession with satisfying one's own cravings, i.e., Selfishness.
The more we understand and accept the reality of our PURPOSE for existence, the less "evil" there will be among men.

"So you think that money is the root of all eveil?"
"Have you ever asked what is the root of money? Money is a tool of exchange, which can't exist unless there are goods produced and men able to produce them. Money is the material shape of the principle that men who wish to deal with one another must deal by trade and give value for value.
"When you accept money in payment for your effort, you do so only on the conviction that you will exchange it for the product of the effort of others."
"......................Your wallet is your statement of hope that somewhere in the world around you there are men (women) who will not default on that moral principle which is the root of money. Is this what you consider evil?

So by those statements it would be assumed that the people with the most money act as the best Gods by complying with that so called moral principle of exchanging money for a product. Such so called gods in the past have deceived and taken peoples values by showing money or some form of at the same time. It happens that way more than 99% of the time. How heavenly the money exchanging principle would be in a more heavenly world. But it is currently more complicated than that. And money does not have to and didnt allways exist contrary to what you think.

I think that greed is the root to all evil..... lack of money is not the root to evil.... greed is... there are alot of poor people who get by just fine without resorting to all sorts of evil to get money......
Some of the richest people on this planet get their money out of exploitation and greed, people that want what they can't afford will go to any evil lengths to get it..... People are evil... not money.... even in the days of barter.. when there wasn't money, greed and evil were just as prevalent then as it is today. People are the problem not money.
