I've been doing some driving lessons and the clutch control is proving to be a big problem. I want to be driving by Summer (I'm getting on a bit), at this rate I won't be.

I'm considering doing Automatic, people are saying not to. The main reason is because it means I'm limited to only driving Automatic - this isn't an issue for me.

Are there any other downfalls of driving Automatic?

If the above mentioned is the only problem, then I'd go ahead with it.

Learn on manual..... it becomes like second nature after a while.... ANYONE can drive an automatic... requires no thought what-so-ever.

Even if you learn on a manual but buy an automatic after at least there won't be a car you can't drive.

I drove automatics for years then switched to manuals. It was a pain in the butt at first but now I like it. The problem is lots of stop and go bumper to bumper traffic on the highway. I have actually had time where my foot was going numb from holding the clutch open.bighairlol

I would think there would be computerized gear boxes by now that gave the fuel efficiency to a manual with the convenience of an automatic.

I have taken driving lesson's in both. Manual isn't that hardalthough i did have problems with clutch control too but fear not you can overcome this. The reason why i switched to Automaticwas because i use to get bad crap whilst doing my lesson's and changing the gear ever so often initiated and worsen the crap.

It depends on your reason's and preference if manual is reallycausing you too many problems try afew lesson's in auto just to see how you progress and distinguish between the two,but it's best topass in a Manual car and thenpurchasean Auto because once you pass your driving test in an auto you can't drive manual car'sunless you re-take with a manual.

Learn to drive in a manual car. At least then you can drive either a manual or automatic car.

Question. My daughter is learning to drive in a diesel manual car, which she says is different to an unleaded manual car. I can't see it myself, so can anyone tell me if it's true?

If you enjoy driving the its all about manual otherwise automatic is fine but you need a high engine size because they tend to be a bit sluggish. Theres no point of learning automatic only thats not really driving. Be patient! you'll get there in the end.

I'm learning on a manual, I prefer it to an automatic because i don't like this one foot business and at least I can have the choice on whther to drive an automatic or manual.

I have my test next month any tips?
