Yea I know its a bit rowdy to say this...but I have to call it as I see it....I have been on BNV for approx ten years and whilst i would acknowledge that as a people we have clearly moved on...
I think we have a problem with a small but significant minority, who whether they realise it or not, appear not to feel complete/validated as Black individuals unless they are discussing how white people feel about them, think about them or how many of us date them..
what is this about can someone tell me inform me?.... I've just deleted the account of mountainwiccan..because he/she was upset that people did not feel it relevant that he/she post links from STORMFRONT that articulated their backwards thoughts about us...heres what MW wrote:

I would be grateful if you could delete my account please. I thought that this was a site I could discuss issues on but I was incorrect in my thinking.
Thanks

Now it could be that I'm a bit backward but how is it a surprise to learn that some white folks think we are all drug dealing womanising criminals... wouldn't you have to have been on MARS not to know that?
How is it interesting to discuss the confused thoughts of a BLACK person stupid enough to beg attention on a fascist website?
But more worryingly for me..is this craving by some people, this need by some people to forever discuss IR issues... It feels like unless some people get to talk negative or positive about how we are involved with Europeans they can't talk at all.. they don't feel complete as a human being and even less as an AFRICAN..
I have lost count with the amount of people begging to talk abouteuropeans or our relationship with Europeans..why? Every Black forum you go to, is dominated,I repeat DOMINATE about Bm with WW..BW with WM...its like its in the genes of some people who appear unable to talk about nothing else...
My theory is this, some people iMO are so brainwashed, so immersed in this country that they do not feel that they can exist unless they include Europeans in their every thought or actions... Unless they can compare themselves to the benchmark of European standards some people appear to be completely lost...
For othersI feel that this type of subject is just a convinent crutch, that they hold onto to make sense of themselves.. its a 'safe' stereotype subject that means some do not have to engage their brainsor THINK either about themselves or face the REAL issues facing us in the WEST..
Some i also suspect want to be with Europeans (their choice naturally) and not feel comfortable unless they evangelise to other Africanswhy their choice was RIGHT, necessary ever met these type of people..the
'I don't want to be on the shelf so I found the nearest White person to date African'...
So here's your chance tell us all why it is impossible for you to be BLACK unless you can discuss/think/put europeans at the centre of your very existence..because i'm curious about what drives these type of Africans?

I wondered if she was a troll, what I wanted to ask her before the thread was deleted was why she spent so much time on Stormfront..... we know what they think, we know how they feel, why spend time there emersing yourself in this type of hatred. I suppose some would say it's good to keep the enemy close, but what the black poster she was on about was saying, seemed to diss black people. I wondered what type of response she was expecting to get here.
In response to your post, it's all a learning curve, some are further ahead in their thinking than others but eventually we will all be at the same place....

Hmmm not so sure its quite that simple...I observed a cross section of people of mixed abilities behave like this.. I even remember my time at the first uni I studied at...
I tried to start a Black study group..I have never before seen 40 plus Africans of all ages feel and behave so uncomfortable with this concept.. later we had a race awareness session as part of our learning, that was spilt into racial groups...and I do not lie when I tell you that some black people just couldn't cope..all day..i promise you all day they were begging for Europeans to be intergrated in the Black group..
Even those Africans who conside themselves BLACK appear unable to exist unless they're voicing how much Europeans are doing them down...

good topicniceone.gif. the reason why some (not me personally) black people look up to white people and always want to include them in everything, is that they are seen as the superior race, top of the tree. they feel if they have approval from whites, then that means its good, and they feel they can only succeed with the input from whites. for example the nigerians are now accepting zimbabwean farmers kicked off their land, the nigerians feel that the economy can only grow if white people are there.
kunjufu would you agree with this?

yeh true those empires did crumble, but white people have said to me they are superior because their countries are the wealthiest, europe, usa, canada, oz , NZ, etc, whereas our countries are the poorest ie africa. white people think they are superior for those reasons. but yeh i see your point.

You see years ago, in order to be even heard we had to align with the white mentality...the way we speak, the way we dress. In order for our own black people to take each other seriously they measure and compare against white standards. This is something that was enivitable, however times are changes and people are waking up to the fact that we can actually stand on our own two feet and that we do not need to conform or align in oder to be heard.
Your study group people equated University with being a white thing and maybe that's why they felt a need to involve them, for validation, they probably felt you were a stirrer with your focus group..and that what you were trying to do was too black and not in the ethos of what 'university' means, (in their minds)!!!! confused3
The black people at my uni were not interested in anything Black focused. AT ALL!!!!

Hmm this is a potentially intersting topic provided I understand the original question........and that the thread doesnt go off on too many other tangents.
Well white folk aren't at the epicentre of my universe but they infiltrate my day to day runnings EVERYDAY,in negative and some positive ways, but I don't spend heaps of time chatting about them unless it's something which has really riled me or he/she is something worth talking about.
The only times in my life where I never have to have contact with White people is in my Moms neighbourhood in Brooklyn,New York, there is even a Black run bank on that street. The only people I deal with there for all of my needs are Black and Chinese, now say what you will about the Chinese but I do admire almost love them as a people and i've yet to EVER be disrespected by one(regardless of what may go on behind closed doors),which is more than can be said for White peoples treatment of me as well as my fellow Blacks/Africans.
I aint asking for nothing, just open the door and i\'ll take it myself-James Brown.

Such blanket statements are errounous. And it would be helpful to do a little research (especially when such info hasbeen posted on BNV in the past.).
Without trying to deviate from the topic at hand, -
1. but how does accepting white farmers equate that the Nigerian economy can only grow if white people are there? COnsidering farming is just an aspect of a Nations economy (and in the case of Nigeria which is dependent on Oil, farming just about appears in the details)
2. If you actally read up on it, you will find out that, the Nigerian Government (emphasis on government) did not consult the necessary stakeholders before taking that decision, and you would have discovered that the people who actually onw tha lands are not accepting the white farmers and actually threatenoing them (or making the business climate) unfriendly. But all that is an aside, just thot I'd point that out.
Back to the lecture at hand though, In response to Kunjufus' question. A good number of people need to do away with the inferiority complexes that plagues (sometimes systematiccaly ingrained) them, and need to realise their actual selfworth. Wiht that said, it is still goingto be a slow and painful process, that would have been made easier if we had susbstantial controls of visible sectors especially the media.
