ugk (bun b and pimp c) are like the kool g raps of the south......highly respected by rap fans dudes who grew up there listening to them...no plaques..buttremendous respect
I'm not big fan of his music or most of the stuff out of houston...but if those guys down there todn't seem to have a problem with him....then neither do I...
Ithink the rappers down there understand that having a white guy as part of the houston movement helps the mainstream fans relate to it....
think a lot of young kids don't see anything wrong or dsifferent..but life has a way of slapping people with reality when they get older..think they'll understand things better when they get older.....that goes for paul wall and eminem situations...
besides scarface and bun b..I can't get down with houston rappers...

Why do Africans continually bend over to get the "mainstream" (Whites) to "relate" with us? I'm sorry, but f**k the mainstream. Then we go and complain that wewere squeezed out of nearly every music genre (rock, jazz, pop, etc.) when we originated them. We are so eager to sell our souls to Whites and now you have Elvis, Backstreet Boys, NSync, Britney Spears, Eminemand countless other snow flakes who made and continue to make several times fold more moneyfrom African/Black-pioneered music thanwe ever can when it is controlled by the mainstream.

I am not taking shots at you, but when are our people going to get a f**king clue?

I hear youTthoth...but the houston rap game is made up independent rappers and labels....these guys developed an entire market that runs outside of the majors.....

since the majors decided to blow up Houston...and put money behind it.....I can't be mad at those guys for trying to cash in while the machine is pushing it.....the spotlight is currently on any and every rapper from there...

Unitl the mainstream decidesto move on to something else..

These guys have to capitalize on all that free publicty.......there are articles in EVERY major music magazine about houston....and the nature of this country....you need a white face on something to get mainstream to REALLY get behind it..and spend money....that's just how it is...

paul is signed to black owned independent label.....swishahouse...

hopegully the indpendent scene down there is still intact once the majors move on to something else

Again...i hear what you're saying....and history repeats itself but those guys down there are self made businessmen...........at the very least..they will make significant amount of money from this entire thing...
