I have noticed/learn from my blog, my column, and various other places I write.

1st, I'm lucky as hell, I can't imagine who wants to read what I write.

2nd, I'm not as good at radio...but check me out next summer on TV (God willing)

3rd,thing I learned, in case you havn't guessed, I can't type at all. Pfft, nada. I get paid .32 a words. Pretty good huh? Well my editor charges me .05 a word for every correction. DAMN! With regard to my typing I'm pretty fast. I know where to put my fingers and what-not, but I get so fast that I skip over letters, or sometimes I even type what I'm thinking at the moment I'm thinking it. (Make sense) So if I am typing about shoes, and I start thinking about my son or daughter....I'll go form, "what shoesis the best" to, "that boy had betterdo his home work." So I've noticed I simplyneed to slow down. s.l.o.w.d.o.w.n.

4th, and this is what applies to blacks, I've learned..and this is about "US". If I write an article and the article goes like. "I Love being black" and I go on to say how wonderful being black is. And I go on to celebrate black history, culture and music. And I go on to celebrate the black family and lament about how wonderful it is to be black.

Bruthaz and sisterz who read this will give it love. Pounds, dapz, hugs, "YOU GO BOYs'" and "Man P, you speak the truth" on and on.....and I dig it..I do.

But if I write a piece that speaks of the problems of blacks. Our high rate of single mothers. High rate ofAIDS. The descturctio of the black family.High rate of blackboys dropping out of school. If I go on about high crime in our neighborhoods or how we seem to be counter-productive. If I go on about how we treat our women, and how our men have failed our community. If I lament abouthow hard it is to be black, with two enemies. Your own people....and everyone else.

The most common comment (outside of BNVillage) is "White people do it too" or "you can't speak for all races" or "all men are not like that" (see the change up?) Inside (some of us, I realized I have to type disclaimers in my threads invetaile someone one will come in and say NOT ME, or somethig along those lines) BNVillage the word slave with get bounced around once or twice, maybe seasoned with a few "SELLOUTS" or "UNCLETOMS" (though I havn't heard that one in some months),and of course....the race of my wife is comes up.Outside of BN the common thing is "We aren't the only ones" inside BN its "Parris you are not black any more"asBurningSpear says "The I'm blacker than you contest"...on Villager even suggesting that i come to BN so I CAN be black. (can't forget that)

Notice how we accpet the good, deny the bad (though we can't really deny it we see it every day). Blacks in America and Africans on this site know pain....know war (some of you older cats)..really know opression and hurt.....and marches and protests....and struggling. And we know the LESS-THAN of us.

Just something to think about.

THUS!

The whole bit about my typing.

But you can't correct bad grammar, by using bad grammar.
