I am sooo excited because my tickets "home" arrived last week. This December I will be escaping the empty promises and hangovers of New Years Eve, not to mention the bitter bitter cold as I will be making the Journey back to Tanzania to touch base with my roots. It has taken an accumulation of ahuge amount of sacrifice throughout the year, good connections in Tanzania and a massive stroke of luck in finding BARGAIN tickets on the net.

Why am I telling you this?? Partly to celebrate my happinness with you and also to ASK........Do many people of Carribbean decent make the journey to Africa, afterall it is ultimately where we all originate from (whites and all). I only ask because a few of my friends (2nd generation Jamaicans & Dominicans) voiced their utter shock and concern that I would choose to make such a journey again!!!!

Now why would your so called friends be shocked that you're travelling to africa? What have you been telling them?

I travel to africa all the time...been to north africa and west africa...none of my friends get shocked cos they know I love the place.

It is difficult enough to go back to your own country after spending so many years in Europe

it is like you belong nowhere

In Europe you always will be a stranger and in your own country you are a stranger to when you return

maybe one day I will try Africa but not know

Israfil

I know what you mean!! And a good point to mentionclp)

I dont feel that Uk is my home and I feel that Africa is...but then at times I feel out of place in Africa and more at home in Uk....its well confusing!! But I love Africa because I am a child of Africa. Its part of being in a global village i guess??

I'm happy for you. Do what's best for you, deep down you know better than anyone else. Don't let what other people say affect that. You shouldn't have told your friends till you got back.

Don't watch that, Israfil. People will always try to test you by questioning your loyalties. Trust me, Africans are the most welcoming people you will ever know. They are only testing you to see if you really are one of them. If you embrace them, wholeheartedly, they will embrace you.

Trust me on that one. Jump in - book that flight niceone.gif
