I'm curious to everyone's thoughts on this 12 statements. Answer with a fact or fiction.
1. It's okay for a white person to use the "N" word, since it's glamorized in forms of entertainment such as Hip Hop music, Comedy shows, and film. (Fact Or Fiction)
2. A white person can use the "N" word and not be racist. (Fact Or Fiction)
3. It's right for the young black generation to connect to the racism of the older generation and claim those experiences as their own even though they never went through those experiences themselves. (Fact Or Fiction)
4. Younger generation whites should be held accountable for the racism of their ancestors. (Fact Or Fiction)
5. A Black person who decides to move on with his or her life and no longer view society in terms of race but as human beings is a sellout or uncle tom. (Fact Or Fiction)
6. All white people are racist. (Fact Or Fiction)
7. No black person can be racist. (Fact Or Fiction)
8. You're a racist if you take pride in your race and root on someone in your race to do well in society. (Fact Or Fiction)
9. Black people should move on and stop caring about racism. (Fact Or Fiction)
10. The early Euro's who set up shop in North America and used blacks as slaves to build the country were not racist but rather capitalist. (Fact Or Fiction)
11. Complaining about the "white man" preventing you from having a quality life is an excuse in this day and age. (Fact Or Fiction)
12. Everyone to some degree is racist. (Fact Or Fiction)

Only the best is good enough....

1. It's okay for a white person to use the "N" word, since it's glamorized in forms of entertainment such as Hip Hop music, Comedy shows, and film. (Fact Or Fiction) Hell NO, it's not okay.
2. A white person can use the "N" word and not be racist. (Fact Or Fiction) Grey area! I believe the younger White generation have just adopted this term as a term of endearment amongst their peerstherefore, I believe it's about educating all youth about the term. On the other hand, an older person using the term in my opinion is a racist - he/she should know about the origins of the word.
3. It's right for the young black generation to connect to the racism of the older generation and claim those experiences as their own even though they never went through those experiences themselves. (Fact Or Fiction) The experiences of the older generations has had an impact on them today,(i.e) inequalities in Education, Social Housing and the like - the cyclical effect isa direct connection to the struggles of the older gen... Which they can claim as their own today. They too are going through that struggle.
4. Younger generation whites should be held accountable for the racism of their ancestors. (Fact Or Fiction) No, unless they personally hold the views of Black people being inferior - like our not so friendly shipwrecked fool, Lucy.
5. A Black person who decides to move on with his or her life and no longer view society in terms of race but as human beings is a sellout or uncle tom. (Fact Or Fiction) Question is, how long will it take for such a person to realise, this mindset is shared by the minority, thus making it almost impossible to view society in such an idealistic way.
(Fact Or Fiction) This is a massive grey area, and goes back to my response for Q. 5. One must understand the dynamics of how society is set out to divide ethnicities. Sadly, we as Black people are always at the lowest level anddeemed as the underclass. How then is one surpossed to overlook inbeded institutionalised racism? Also that statement can be looked at in terms of the Big Brother racism row - Beacuse some of us have been trying to overlook racism, we have now got to the stage of having to debate what constitutes racism - we become divided.
10. The early Euro's who set up shop in North America and used blacks as slaves to build the country were not racist but rather capitalist. (Fact Or Fiction)
11. Complaining about the "white man" preventing you from having a quality life is an excuse in this day and age. (Fact Or Fiction) Grey area. However, there are ways and means to succeed in life. Just dont forget who the enemiy is.

I guess the ones with any sense at all wouldn't desire to use the word. So the ones that desire to the use the word are in fact racist. Saying something like that, that offends enough people is racist, and a person with the knowledge of that fact and still uses the word, certainly is racist. Fiction it is then.
2. A white person can use the "N" word and not be racist. (Fact Or Fiction)

Fiction. Why would any white persondesire to use the word, in the knowledge that it offends alot of people? If they use it, they are racist and stupid..

You'd think the racism now would be enough to deal with. If you have to use history then what's happening right now isn't so bad. I'd go for Fiction then.
4. Younger generation whites should be held accountable for the racism of their ancestors. (Fact Or Fiction)
Fiction.
5. A Black person who decides to move on with his or her life and no longer view society in terms of race but as human beings is a sellout or uncle tom. (Fact Or Fiction)
Fiction. Unless a contract was signed somewhere stating that you must suffer with others.
6. All white people are racist. (Fact Or Fiction)
Fiction.
7. No black person can be racist. (Fact Or Fiction)
Fiction. Alot of blacks don't like themselves. The worse sort of racism.
8. You're a racist if you take pride in your race and root on someone in your race to do well in society. (Fact Or Fiction)
Not racist, just brainwashed and stupid. Fiction.
9. Black people should move on and stop caring about racism. (Fact Or Fiction)
If black people actually dealt with racism in perhaps the same way as the Asians do then perhaps the chance to move on would be an option. Instead most do nothing and history repeats itself.
10. The early Euro's who set up shop in North America and used blacks as slaves to build the country were not racist but rather capitalist. (Fact Or Fiction)
Fiction.
11. Complaining about the "white man" preventing you from having a quality life is an excuse in this day and age. (Fact Or Fiction)
Pretty much. Fact.
12. Everyone to some degree is racist. (Fact Or Fiction)
Fiction. That is just a lame excuse to avoid any sort of personal improvement. I'm fine I'm just like the next man mentality. Good job the handicapped peopledon't share it.

1. It's okay for a white person to use the "N" word, since it's glamorized in forms of entertainment such as Hip Hop music, Comedy shows, and film. (Fact Or Fiction)
It doesn't matter what colour you are, it is not ok for you to use that word.
2. A white person can use the "N" word and not be racist. (Fact Or Fiction)
Fact. But 99% who use the word are racist. I know some that use it because they dont see the racist connortation (as unbelivable as that may be), mostly youngerz. You must understand that, now days, the word "nigga" is notneccasarily used to describe a black person.U will regulary hear rappers referring to "that white nigga" or"them spanish niggas". Think offat Joe.I kno white boys who hand around with all black bres and they all call eachother niggas. They use it out of ignorance in the same way black youts do. Irnoically, they pick up the use of the word from their black friends.
3. It's right for the young black generation to connect to the racism of the older generation and claim those experiences as their own even though they never went through those experiences themselves. (Fact Or Fiction)
Fact. It is always important to understand your history whatever it may have entailed, regrdless of race. In our case it entailed much racial discrimination. InGermany kids are taught to connect to thetime of the Nazi's, and understand what a terrible thing was done in their contries name. It's a shame European's in general are not doing this with regards to their ancestors actions.
4. Younger generation whites should be held accountable for the racism of their ancestors. (Fact Or Fiction)
Fiction. But they should be held accountable for the current effects of their ancestors actions. Not because its their fault, but because they have the power to correct it. They are guilty by their inaction.Lets be honest if all discrimination ended today we wouldnt make so much noise about what happened in the past.
5. A Black person who decides to move on with his or her life and no longer view society in terms of race but as human beings is a sellout or uncle tom. (Fact Or Fiction)
Fiction. They are notneccasarily an ucleTom, but rather a submissive. How you view society (your perception)is irrelevant. Race effects human relations and if you chose to ignore it you would simply be ignoring the problem. Ideally we would all love to view society colourblind, but most people in the society we live in do not view it this way.Weonly bring up issues ofrace because they are current and relevent, not because we haven't "moved on". Its not us that has to move on, its those who still view us as inferior.
6. All white people are racist. (Fact Or Fiction)
Fiction.
7. No black person can be racist. (Fact Or Fiction)
Fiction. They can and do exist. Black racism isnt a big issue though, as we have little or no power to discriminate. I kno quite a few carribean people who view chinese people as inferior.
8. You're a racist if you take pride in your race and root on someone in your race to do well in society. (Fact Or Fiction)
Fiction. I wish all people well, but I would rather see a brother make it as he is more likely to help some other brothers who havent. A white man who makes it may not have helping out black peoplehigh on his list of priorities. I knowsome brothers who make it do not care about other black people, but at least they share vested interests. It's about balancing the power. If all races treated eachother equally already, there would be no need to root for black over white or visa versa.
9. Black people should move on and stop caring about racism. (Fact Or Fiction)
Fiction. That statement is a contradiction. You do not "move on" by stopping to care about a problem. You move on by solving a problem. Racism is a problem. As i said before, i think its the white people who have to "move on".
10. The early Euro's who set up shop in North America and used blacks as slaves to build the country were not racist but rather capitalist. (Fact Or Fiction)
What logic brings you to the conclusion that theywere notboth? Captilists will always exploit, but they will only do what they can get away with. They could get away with using us as slaves because they justified it by saying we were subhuman and did notdeserve the same rights afforded to whites. They were both racist and capitalist.
11. Complaining about the "white man" preventing you from having a quality life is an excuse in this day and age. (Fact Or Fiction)
Nearly everyone living in the west has a quality life. There is no absolute poverty in the UK or US. But it is no secret that often we have the same potential, but receive a lower quality of life than our white counterparts. Institutional racism is not a theory, it's fact.
12. Everyone to some degree is racist. (Fact Or Fiction)
I dont think anyone is qualified to answer this question as no single person has met every other person in this world.

1. It's okay for a white person to use the "N" word, since it's glamorized in forms of entertainment such as Hip Hop music, Comedy shows, and film. (Fact Or Fiction)
Fiction. Is it alright for us to use kike, spic, gook etc. on a regular?
2. A white person can use the "N" word and not be racist. (Fact Or Fiction)
Fiction. Why would they even fight to use the word in the first place, someone like Qunetin Tarantino being a shiningexample.
3. It's right for the young black generation to connect to the racism of the older generation and claim those experiences as their own even though they never went through those experiences themselves. (Fact Or Fiction)
Fact. Some of the same experiences are still here but just manifest themselves in different ways.
4. Younger generation whites should be held accountable for the racism of their ancestors. (Fact Or Fiction)
Fact.
5. A Black person who decides to move on with his or her life and no longer view society in terms of race but as human beings is a sellout or uncle tom. (Fact Or Fiction)
Not necessarily.
6. All white people are racist. (Fact Or Fiction)
Fact.
7. No black person can be racist. (Fact Or Fiction)
Fact.
8. You're a racist if you take pride in your race and root on someone in your race to do well in society. (Fact Or Fiction)
FICTION. Anyone who claims different doesn't know what the hell they're talking about.
9. Black people should move on and stop caring about racism. (Fact Or Fiction)
Fiction. Racism is still a daily obstacle in our lives whether over or covert. Sweeping it under the carpet and burying our heads in the sand isn't going to vhange it.
10. The early Euro's who set up shop in North America and used blacks as slaves to build the country were not racist but rather capitalist. (Fact Or Fiction)
Fiction. I don't even need to expand on this one.
11. Complaining about the "white man" preventing you from having a quality life is an excuse in this day and age. (Fact Or Fiction)
Hmmmm....somewhat.
12. Everyone to some degree is racist. (Fact Or Fiction)
Fact.

1. It's okay for a white person to use the "N" word, since it's glamorized in forms of entertainment such as Hip Hop music, Comedy shows, and film. (Fact Or Fiction)
Fiction
2. A white person can use the "N" word and not be racist. (Fact Or Fiction)
Fiction
3. It's right for the young black generation to connect to the racism of the older generation and claim those experiences as their own even though they never went through those experiences themselves. (Fact Or Fiction)
Fact...all groups do it, including Arabs, Jews, Native Americans and others as well. Keep in mind people always connect with the positive in their history, like the accomplishments of their antecedents. It would then be wholistic in historical consciousness and heritage to acknowledge the not so positive.
4. Younger generation whites should be held accountable for the racism of their ancestors. (Fact Or Fiction)
Fact...They certainly accept and enjoy their privileged position in the world which resulted from their antecedents' racist behavior, so it is inconsistent toseparatebenefits from the acts practiced to attain them.
5. A Black person who decides to move on with his or her life and no longer view society in terms of race but as human beings is a sellout or uncle tom. (Fact Or Fiction)
Fact.
6. All white people are racist. (Fact Or Fiction)
Fiction...although most unwittingly think as racists, but don't realize it.
7. No black person can be racist. (Fact Or Fiction)
Fiction...although I have never seen an African racist before. It would take a very peculiar and extreme individual. Most of what people call "racist" in African people is merely an intelligentperson's reaction to a White Supremacist power structure.
8. You're a racist if you take pride in your race and root on someone in your race to do well in society. (Fact Or Fiction)
False....for having pride in race.
It depends when rooting for someone of your own race on the motivation behind it. For example, many of us Americanized Africans will vote for Barak Obama just because he is Black even though he will do nothing for our communities that the complacent Democrats are not already doing (or not doing). So, this behavior can be deemed as racist. However, I think it probably goes back to what I wrote in #7; that what we deem "racist" in African people si merely an intelligent person's reaction to a White Supremacist power structure.
9. Black people should move on and stop caring about racism. (Fact Or Fiction)
Fiction.
10. The early Euro's who set up shop in North America and used blacks as slaves to build the country were not racist but rather capitalist. (Fact Or Fiction)
Fiction...Capitalism didn't exist then. It was America's peculiarinstitution of slavery that gave birth to an economy based purely on exploitation, or namely Capitalism.
11. Complaining about the "white man" preventing you from having a quality life is an excuse in this day and age. (Fact Or Fiction)
It depends on a person's values to determine that "quality". For some, yes, it is impossible to have a quality life in a Western nation, or at least in America. As the news some months/weeks ago detailing the unheard-of murders of Amish people, it is evident that not even they can escape the ills of American society they seek to repel.
12. Everyone to some degree is racist. (Fact Or Fiction)
Fiction.
