J, are you talking about the one which Van Peebles directed? £264 quid If it's the same one, it has been on ch4/BBC2 before why not contact them!!!!

Well, if itwas me, i'd contact the appropreiate person/ dept, spinsome story (I dont know, like) tell themyour writing a dissertation or something and a copy of the film would assist yourresearch confused3Be creative. I'd ratherdo so than fork out £264 squid. Ask them when they plan to air the film again - it's worth a try.

I watched that film for the first time on Channel 4 about two months ago and much to my eternal regret I didn't record it. Brilliant and thought provoking stuff.
I could see why the powers that be were threatened by it and did everything in their power to limit its distribution. They have no problem with films that show us blowing each other's brains out for nothing, but one of the few positive African films that show our people sticking together, doing for self and fighting the establishment right to the top was enough to get the crakkkas scared in case it woke some of us up. From what I know it only lasted one weekend in cinemas when it was released.

The DVD on the american version of amazon is also exhobitantly priced. Are they trying to price it out of peoples reach? never seen one DVD movie going for so much money both here and in US. At first i thought maybe a decimal point was missing!! The cheapest option is the VHS version from the american amazon at $38.99 and even that is expensive for VHS.

If you don't mind a VHS copy, ebay is your friend!
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Mario-Van-Peeb...em230091865593
there is also a dvd version from another seller, but their starting bis is £94.99!! i guess the fact it has been deleted, therefore no longer available for retail, is what is pushing the price up.

a) priced out of peoples reach so fewer people see it (but illeagal copies are probably available anywayconfused3)
or
b) it is deleted therefore no longer widely available, hence making it rare hence pushing the price up.
