Or maybe you haven't seen it yet. If you had, you wouldn't need to ask, and i don't think I would need to break it down to any person of Afrikan descent - especially someone who names themselves Black Power. When you do see it, sister, i am sure you will be pissed off.

In fact, I would be really puzzled (and dismayed) if an Afrikan was not offended by it.

I know some may think it's a chore, but it must be done, or it will just keep on rolling - and getting worse. Get on the advertising standards website, and submit a complaint. It's offensive - plain and simple.

PH. Seen it twice. Out right attack and degrading insult to: Jamaicans, Caribbean and black Africans in that order. Just went cold when I saw it after a second and it got progressively worse and the thing seems soooo long. Come like torture before he gets to his climax with the Masticulation/Masturbation punch line.

Come like someone walking up to you while you are minding your business and clear their chest and spits in your face...

Somethiing has to go one either then and there or when you get home and clear your head...

The sister is right. Going to complain in a couple of days when I have the time. If you don't have respectfor yourself or the integrity of yourimage then who the f**kis going to have respect for you. And youknow what..You deserve it to if people think they can portray you like that and you do nothing.

But the thing that gets me is this.The actor knows thathe can come into the black or Caribbean community and awhole heap of people will be more interested thatthey saw that guy who was on that advert on the TV rather than break his face for his outright treachery. Not long ago nobody would have the neck to think they could do that and reguraly take a train at Brixton or many other stations in black communities because our people would attack them physically. Straight and no questions asked.

When black actors took demeaning parts in the 20's, 30's, 40's, you could kinda forgive them - they didn't have much choices and were trying to pave the way. they still tried to maintain their own dignity to try and sleep at night. When asked on the Oprah show why he did not accept more parts, Sidney Poitier said that he could in effect work 52 weeks a year if he wanted to, but every time he read a script he would only accept the part if he could visualise his departed mother watching it with him and being proud of him.

Message to the weak hearted, coconut macaroon, oreo cookie'd, sambo coon who accepted the part - HOW are you going to sleep at night? Where is your conscience? And what exactly do you see when you look in the mirror every morning to brush those big teeth that you were scrinning up for the camera?
Didn't it burn him when he saw the playback and realised that the two white women in the advert, both were directed to give him the dirtiest of looks? What a blow! At every turn, the advert - as Fred rightly says - draws phlegm from deep within their chests, and spits in our faces.

We're the only community continually disgraced in the media and who ALLOW ourselves to be degraded and think nothing of it. I remember when the chinese community in the UK were outraged when there was an ad for sweet and sour sauce and the guy in the ad was performing kung fu moves. Ever since then, their complaints were taken seriously and no one has portrayed them like that ever since because the chinese community know themselves and are taken far more seriously than we can currently ever hope to be.

As Sister Sirius said, they made two europeans give him the dirtiest looks and I also noticed they were careful not to have any other Africans in the ad looking at him like he's crazy, because that would have hinted at normality within the African community and the advert makers or whatever they are weren't gonna allow that, as they were clear they wanted a watermelon eating sambo in their ad to destroy the image of Africans - Caribbeans in particular.

Believe me, I hope that 'brotha' is reading this or someone who knows him is because he should be ashamed of himself for what he did. I hope Ligali run an article on this advert because it was the worse advert I've ever seen.
