I learned something randomly wikipedia browsing the other day. Russia used to have a Patrice Lamumba University that was internationally known and respected. They had students from all over including lots of Africans.
That was in the past. The uni has been renamed and is now the site of some of the worst racism and violence against Africans and minorities as described in this thread.
What could have changed Russia from being a place where Universitys wherenamed after African heroes and wherePaul Robeson was recieved and welcomed in the early 1900s when blacks back in US were being lynched... into a place where nazi skinhead racists are on the increase?

Russia is a no go area for Africans. I'd rather go to Germany or Poland and that's saying a hell of a lot. That country is crazy as hell and you're not even safe from the police because they will kidnap you and if you don't pay them off they'll murder you and that's a regular occurence with non whites in Russia. Even African politicians who have travelled to that country have been physically attacked by neo nazis.
I'd say it's the most dangerous place in europe for Africans to go.

You guys are overlooking the bigger picture. Russia is a barbaric country full stop. The're brutal towards their own people so why would they treat us with any more respect. One has to only look at their awaful history i.e Stalin, episodes of canibalism etc to understand why they are so messed up. Most of them skinheads will probably drink themselfs to death anyway. I dont know why anybody would want to go to that Godforsaken, poor excuse of a country.
