I agree Christianity has distortions, most of what is taught is watered down from the original Hebrew and Aramaic scriptures. However, historians such as Josephus speak of Yeshua and John the Baptist.

If Selassie really is a direct descendant of David...then, well good for him, he has a famous ancestor.

The only thing that annoys me somewhat is that sometimes it seemsso-called Rastafarianswant us to believe that Africa consists of Ethiopia.

Though I amwondering what kind of godlike miraculous things Selassie did, to make people believe he is Yeshua incarnate.

I thought he simply was a great general, with superwise sayings to inspire those around him.

Everywhere you'll have people who won't fit the description of what they are suppose to believe in.

Rastafarism is an African based religion. Haille Sallaisie is believed to be a reincarnation of Jesus. When you say rasta is a b**tardised verision of Christianity someone could say that Christianity is a b**tardised version of Rastafarism.

Ethiopia or Ethiopians who the West call 'coptic' Jews (that's debatable) is central to the belief.

However the mainpoints of Rasta is first to believethat Haillie Sallasie is from the line of Judah. Second that Africa (Ethiopia) is our spiritual homeland. Third that you have to keep yourself pure until God comes back again. Meaning to eat ital foods, (no pork) and worship Jah.

Rastafarism does not strictly rule out marrying people from other races. There is nowhere in the scriptures that absolutely forbids it. BUT theremust bea conflict in that if the religion is African based if you're married to a white it is kinda compromised.

You are entitiled to your thoughts. But why pick on Rasta when there are a myriad of other religions, (many rastas call it a way of life rather then religion), that could equally incur your wrath for not preaching what you want to hear.

http://www.earthcultureroots.com/rastafarism.html

At the end of the day rasta is just another'religion'for people to fuss and fight over like they do any other.

The fact it is African centered must be a positive thing. Thealternative is toworship a white God.

If Rastafarianism is based on the "Christian bible", or lets say even on only the "Old Testament", and some people here have compaired the African Diaspora's "exile" from Africa to the the scriptures mentioning Israel's return from captivity, then there are scriptures that would forbid marrying people who do not worship the same God:

[11] Judah has broken faith. A detestable thing has been committed in Israel and in Jerusalem: Judah has desecrated the sanctuary the LORD loves, by marrying the daughter of a foreign god. [12] As for the man who does this, whoever he may be, may the LORD cut him off from the tents of Jacob--even though he brings offerings to the LORD Almighty. (Malachi 2:11/12 NIV)

A different translation:

[suP][11] [/suP]Dealt treacherously hath Judah, And abomination hath been done in Israel, and in Jerusalem, For polluted hath Judah the holy thing of Jehovah, That He hath loved, and hath married the daughter of a strange god.[suP] [12] [/suP]Cut off doth Jehovah the man who doth it, Tempter and tempted—from the tents of Jacob, Even he who is bringing nigh a present to Jehovah of Hosts. (Malachi 2:11/12 YLT)

Ezra also rebuked people of guilty ofintermarriage with people of foreign religions, (not just because they were not Israelite or from Judah)when the exiles returned from Babylon (note Ezra 9, 10:18-44).

The "New Testament" exhorts believers (Christians) to marry within the faith (1 Cor 7). What are the rules Rastafarians follow?

Blessings...

for the record, i know that all people who dred or lock their hair are rastas. i see people everyday with locks and they are the worst people on earth. i am sure there are good and true rastas. however, there are plentiful in new york that disgrace the rasta population.

i would like to know the significance of the rasta man getting with a blonde white woman. is there significance in that or is it just the ones in new york?

i guess with all religious or spiritual sectors, you have a group of people who are terrible examples of what they are to represent. i am only reporting what i see. i see. i observe. i speak.

i admit my ignorance to the entire rasta community. i question because i don't fully understand.i comment because i want dialogue. i am not judging, here, either.

i lovw when anyone is truly spiritual and is respectful of thenselves, the Almighty and others.

Darth Norman I am sorry but your attack on rasta is not quite valid for example:

You did not make the distinction between rasta and dread which is the most important factor here.

A real rasta does not trim is beard or mustache ever!!! He should resemble the mane of a lion.

A dread is simply that!! His hair is in dreadlocks but he can shave the sides to make it more funky, he can eat meat, trim islocks and any facial hair.

A true rasta is vegitarian and does not wear or use any animal material for clothing or footware. Some only eat fish.

It would be interesting to know the difference between the differing disciplines of Niabingi, orthodox, 12th tribe and bobo. Over to you guys at BNV.

Issues surrounding race is again raised in the original thread. Bob Marley is probably the best known rasta worldwide. He certainly help raise its profile and he was of mixed heritage.

Ras is about love, strength and unity anything else is down to ones interpretation.

Of the different faiths in the world especially christians I would prefer to take my chances with the fake rastas than with thechristians. Simple!!!!

We consider Haile Selassie l to be an incarnation of the Trinity and Marcus Garvey our chief prophet. Babylon is the world outside of Africa and Selassie offered land to us victims of diaspora, Rasta's see the journey as a return to Zion "look to Africa where a black King shall be crowned, he shall be the reedemer" Haile Selassie was soon crowned Emperor of Ethiopia. He is the God of the black race, we as Rasta's believe that God is black, the bible states "from the hurt of the daughter of my people, am I hurt, I am black, as astonisment hath taken hold of me" Jeremiah 8:21.

We use Biblical names IE "lord of lords, king of kings and conquering lion of Judah" for Haile Selassie l. The same turms have been used in history for Emperors of Ethiopia, when Haile Selassie l was crowned this went to prove his divine status, we believe that Haile Selassie l roots go back to King Soloman and the Queen of Sheba. We believe that the Queen of Sheba's visit to King Soloman found in the book of Kings provides more proof of the Divinity of Haile Selassie l.

We also believe that King Soloman and The Queen of Sheba had sex during this visit, which led to the conception of a child who was in the same line of descendants as Haile Selassie l this shows us the divine nature of H.I.M, as he is ( in our beliefs ) related to Solomans father David and to Jesus himself.

I cannot speak for all dreads but I can speak for my Rasta family, we are not criminal minded people, we don't all date white woman/men, and if we did that has nothing to do with our religion!confused3

race becomes an issue when you claim to love yourself and everything about you. however, when you choose to mate with someone other than what you look like raises my eyebrows and makes me wonder. i love myself, whole heartedly and want nothing more than a black man to be with me. i don't think i can relate to a white man the same way i would a black man. with a black man, we can go deep in spirit. we share a natural bond that CAN NOT be broken. so i think there is some relevence to the marrying and mating of a rasta and white woman. its so ironic that all the women they are with are blonde. its amazing. i would love for someone to be honest about it and explain the implantation of white women in the rasta community.

Most of my famiy is Rastafarian, not one member of my family is with a white woman! U have turned this into a interacial debate when there was no need!. Ask the dreadlocks in your country why they want white woman, but don't presume all dreads are the same, as i've said before dreadlocks and Rasta are two totally different things

To be honest black men who **** about with their hair 95% of the time they're always with white women, so it's not just Rastas, it's just Rastas are more noticeable. And most black women herewouldn't shit on a rasta anyway, well in England anyway, so I'm not surprised most tend to be with whites.

As for the religion itself? it's a load of bollocks likethe restof them.. Concerns itself too much with what "going off" down here in Babyloninstead of getting elsewhere, or even transforming into a living spirit instead of some dead soul.. Moaning about the world or some system when it's meant to be as it is, A complete Hell.
