Yeah, we need a new perspective. The old tired ones aren't working anymore. We keep beating up rap and hip-hop just like it is going to do us some good. The truth of the matter is we don't have the dialogue within our community that is needed to talk truthfully about these subjects. We use the language of "White" racists and neo-cons, just like that could possibly address what is happening in the inner city.
Jay-Z didn't learn about responsibility growing up. He never knew anything about loyalty to his people of his community.
He learned that. His music now, reflects that. Why is that so hard to understand? That if we teach our young, they will learn.
