Rosenior attacks glass ceiling on black football managers

LEROY ROSENIOR has sparked a new racism row - by insisting there is a "glass ceiling" for the game's black managers.

Leroy Rosenior
And Rosenior - looking for a club after being axed as Torquay boss last month - believes clubs should practise positive discrimination.

Former West Ham and Fulham striker Rosenior is angry Paul Ince has had to start his managerial career in League Two, while ex-Manchester United team-mates were handed plum jobs.

Ince took over at MK Dons last month after saving Macclesfield from relegation to the Conference. Rosenior said: "Paul played with the likes of Mark Hughes and Bryan Robson and also played in Italy.

"But, no disrespect to those lads, Paul had to start his coaching career at Macclesfield, even though he had more experience of football than Robson and Steve Bruce, who didn't play abroad. Bruce and Hughes are doing fantastic jobs, but their first jobs were in the Premiership or Championship.

"I think there is a glass ceiling, I think that's obvious.Chairmen need to open their eyes and maybe practise positive discrimination by giving the one black candidate a chance and seeing how he does."
