2007 BNVers review..... -
21-12-07, 09:18 PM
OK so i'm not doing the usual end of year awards this time round for various reasons, so instead I thought about handing over to you......
so what about peoples reviewing the year from either a Black or General perspective, personal highs and lows...and maybe include a Hero for 2007 and the obligatory sell out of 2007....
so BNVers what was your review of 2007?

Personally, its been a good year. Made mo' money, but didn't have mo problems. Sweet!
But still 2007 will forever be associated with the young ones killing each-other like its 1968 in Vietnam or something.
Lets hope that shit don't repeat in 08.
PS merry christmas and a happy new year to all.

Slow 2007 -
21-12-07, 09:45 PM
2007 for me has been a slow year. Started with a great blessing but I expected more fruits to yeild. However, I am blessed, and remain blessed. Roll on 2008.
I have to agree with Stick... the crazy killings of our youth.
Mooron of the year for me - Frank.A (dont ask)
Happy new Year to you BNV

Well, the year started off bad (burgled) and was bad in the middle (flooded).....but apart from that generally better than usual.
I hated the fact that we were killing each other
I loved that we were getting the media coverage of our dead young - and they weren't portrayed as gangsters
My 2007 heroes:
my Mum & Dad - recently downsized their home (never thought I'd see the day!)
.....need to think about the rest of my awards

Hated to see the youngins fightin n killin... not the thing you wanna see when you got a son commin up.
Good to see BNV newbies finding their feet though...good lookin out on you noobs
but I must say...one of the best bits of 2k7 for me was....

Personally 2007 been a good year, going into 08 with things just about ready to take flight in diff areas.
2007 has also reinforced what I've known for eons - how effed up this world is and it's not getting any better.

2007 for me generally has been shit.
A load of let downs after let down. I am struggling to think of any really positive things that have happened for me personally this year.
The second half of the year was worse. The only nthing on my mind through that period was and still is retribution. Certain people need to be dealt with for taking the piss.
If there is a God this individual WILL/SHOULD get whats coming to them ..ONE WAY OR ANOTHER.....turning the other cheek is no and never will be an option.
I will begin 2008 the same way I did 2008...FULL OF ANGER AND RAGE.

personal low lights: Cousins death from cancer. Sale of late grandmothers house after 48 years in our family
personal highlights: doing good at my job. Finding support (and new friends) through highlighting social anxiety. Making my weakness into a strength for other, thereby finding strength in/for myself.
General low lights: rise in low standards in society in general. These low standards making me more and more conservative in my thinking! (or maybe i am just getting old lol)
General highlights: to be honest, none immediatly spring to mind.
Personal Hopes for 2008: Finally opening up to my family about the true extent of my social anxiety.
General hopes for 2008: Our Black youths and Black folks in general to finally step up and stop all the BS.
YOU ARE NOT DEFINED BY OTHER PEOPLES\' OPINION OF YOU!! ;0)

JJ I know this is easier said than done but try and view your experience in 2007 as a way to move forward in 2008 and life in general. Try not to start your year with the above as it may only serve to blur the bigger picture...the lessons you need to learn. Trust me, the pple that did you wrong will learn, leave that to God. Just plan a new strategy.

2007 was NOT a good year for me.
Had a lot of disappointments.
But on a positive note...I am looking forward to rectifying things in 2008.

For me it has been partly great year and filled with sadness....
The Good.....
Passed and did great on my MCAT...here I come medical school.
Built my dream home in North Eastern coastal City of Bos, Somalia.
Applied & got a great job which I hope I will keep after school.
The Bad...
Lost two family members, both to cancer.
For 08! Hope finally we see end of the major conflicts in Africa...
