Who says I love England? I don't take back anything I said the other day. I AM outta here soon, That doesn't change the fact that most Somalis I've met don't class themselves as black and don't like mixing with other black people here. Just go down Woolwich or Wembley or fugg it, Trocadero up west and see what I mean. You probably know all I'm saying is true anyway and if you're a Somalian who is proud to be a black African, Engineer you're in a tiny minority.

Actually I'm originally from Africa not the Carribean, and given the superior stank attitude of many Somalis I encouter I consider myself fortunate.

I’m sorry dude but I’m not in the minority, the so called Somalis you have met are from the UAE and other gulf states. The ones i talking about are from the soil of Africa and earth to which they where born on. Not some confused messed up Arab wannabe. Somalis know and teach to their kids where they come from. my mother taught me where i come from and before i left my country the people told me not to forget where you come from. I’m a real African, because after nearly twenty years in the U.K i haven’t pick up the English culture. Yes i understand it; yes I’ve skimmed in it. But never have i accepted it to be my culture.

Now when the other people say Somalis are not Africa or they don't want to be associated with it, this is an ugly lie.. Like no other. Somalis are an ethic group that extends from the branch of the Kush ethic family (as most Africans are). yes we are African, not only African but very old Africans. People migrate all over the continent and move about looking for faming land. People settle in many corners of Africa, develop cities and then civilization speak a new language ect. Things change over time. But the origin remains the same. Now you say you're from Africa, my guess would be Uganda or Tanzania?? Anyway doesn’t matter because at some point in the continents’ history we were one people, the children of ham.

One last thing about Somalis before i move on, Somalia is divided up into five regions. And the region you seem to get the most hostility to Africans is the Northern scope of the country. They are more inclined to hate their African origin, than the people from the puntland or southern sectors of the country. So when you say i have met Somalis that don't like Africans or "black" people. They are the ones that have mixed with Arabs and then indoctrinated with the concept of European racism and the great white lie..ect. It’s not something you should be laughing about nor should you be kicking up a stink about it. Because this problem can be over come with re-education and not further pollution. Man up and tell them they are wrong and should look to the truth. Don’t be Mr. Divider; we have too many Africans working real hard to divide Africa up like the old European masters use to. Africans have to try and work twice as hard in bringing the family closer together.

Engineer has made some excellent points..even though looking at some of the comments from other members probably have not examined all his posts...But some things he said in his last post hit the bell for me as well as educating me about the dyanamics of the Somali community..Sometimes we as Africans fail to realise how England affects us negatively in terms of our culture and how we relate to each other..I check this having lived and worked in different parts of the country and despite being a proud Londoner have to say for example people up North and the Midlands are far more friendlier outside your immediate community..black, white, Asians the lot..Just more friendlier.

The climate definitely plays a key role in how people live..Never been Florida but nuff people tell me it is like the Caribbean in climate and flavour...But let me give some examples which we need to keep in mind and i have seen this in a least three countries where black folk live really bad..Mandeville in Jamaica, St Davids in Barbados and Cap Estate in St Lucia all money people areas..These people are cold and distant worse than white people..Go in their big houses and you hardly see them..Finish..Finito..So they take on this white psychology of privacy and distance and coldness to others. You could be a newcomer to that community and die in the road and nobody would evern look out nevermind come and greet you and be neighbourly..

So regrettably the Caribbean aint no land of brotherhood and openness any more if it ever was..especially amongst those who want to ape white middle class lifestyles.

Bring the family close together? But you just ranted against UK blacks? So when I point out my experiences with Somalis I'M the divisive one? Okay cool. I'll take your word on Somali mentality generally and the demographics of that vast nation. Seems Britain has a majority of those arab notherners then. Can't tell me not to be divider when Somalis call you ****** and look down on you on road or blatanly start physical beef with other africans on a regular basis in their areas. I've met a few african americans over here. Most I've been cool with but they come with their own weird ideas about us too. Most expect that we're all black Hugh Grants with tea and crumpets and generally being like Geoffrey on the Fresh Prince. I usually point out that I expected them to be like Carlton. It usually breaks the ice and we move on lol. A topic in a myspace group dominated by african americans asked what we all do for fun. When I said among other things that I play pool a bit, one american woman (big 40+ woman) said she couldn't imagine people playing pool with British accents. Like I'm supposed to be foxhunting or playing polo or some shit. Like wow! I didn't even want to start on "british accent" but the idea I can't or don't play pool because I live here is weird.
