Henry Bolombi was no Angel - Agreed. I mean I was working with persistant young offenders when he became part of my case load, however, Henry; like many other y/p was trying to fit in to his environment and chose to go down the grubby path which ultimately led to his untimely demise. The boy had seen plenty in his short life...Witnessing Mom and Pops murdered in the Congo. He had no direction and nothing but his friends to live for - In his eyes that is. He was also a VERY talented footballer, had a dream of excelling in IT... but his 'friends' were his biggest downfall; they had a large negative influence on him, obviously he did not see it like this. I dont doubt he may have once been convicted of carrying weapons and other petty crimes, but for me, hearing of his murder was tragic... what a waste of life, just approaching his 19 b/d. The boy had a heart, you could see the flickering light of hope within him...but he was somewhat nieve(sp) and made some foolish errors. Funny, on my way to church NYEve, I saw a few boys as I turned the corner and thought one of them was Henry...later to learn that next morning, he was murdered
However, as the saying goes, 'you live by the gun, your going to die by the gun'. My prayer now, is that his death will not go in vain, and the large numbers of friends he moved with, will shine their eyes and recognise this SHITE has to stop.
