Happy New Year Folks!

The boyfriend and I have decided to go transatlantic for a holiday this summer and the location of choice is New York! I've only ever planned one other holiday by myself and the last time I did, I hade a tremendous amount of help from a fellow BNVer and his family (who shall remain nameless ), so i decided I might as well go the same route this time and gather some advice from you lurvly people

All i reall want is a coupe recomendations on where to stay, what to see, where to eat, where to avoid ect.

Also, we were thinking of starting the holiday in NY and ending it somewhere else in USA. Any idea on where we could travel too easily and on a budget from NY that woukd be a good place to stay?

Thanks in advance!

SS

Soulstarr, when Abs was here some time ago, I believe she stayed at the Hotel Pennsylvania and thought it made a good and not too expensive 'home base.' Definitely check it out: Hotel Pennsylvania

Hard to really answer the question without having a clearer idea of what you want/like to do. But the HP will have you pretty much in the middle of things--walking distance to Times Square, etc.

When i go to New York i stay either at International House or Sugar Hill Harlem inn- both in harlem.

i stayed at International House for a few months 2 years back and that was really cheap!

Sugar hill harlem inn has two properties one on w145th and the other w146th.

its safe in case your slightly worried and the subway will take you ingto the manhatten in no time (taking the 2 or 1- i think).

i prefer shopping on 125th street and surrounding areas.

theres the manhatten mall if you like.

also in the summer there are a few free events that are held (some early morning i remember)

To eat: on 125th near Marshalls there's a west indian restaurant place.

also there are lots of soul food place.

hope that helps- if i think of more then ill getback to you

atlantic city isn't too far from nyc if you're interested in gambling and other such activities. its a smaller version of las vegas. It's just a couple hours away from the city
