Aldi Lidl netto ect ect -

Anyone shop at these stores??
They are classed as "discount" stores but I checked the price of chicken today and it was more expensive then your "2 for a fiver"" supermarkets
I must admit though most things there are cheaper...
apparently theres a stigma attached to shopping at these places?

Ye I've shopped in these...
Although I find greater stigma with netto, to the point where certain people up north call it 'otten' to hide the fact they are going there.
Me personally I don't business why should I spend all my hard earned cash on something I can for get cheaper.

thats odd as out of all those stores its Netto that does the name brand goods while the others do "close imitations" and nuff foreign tings.
got all 3 quite close to me...must admit they are cheaper than the average off licence when it comes to booze

They are all good.
(However sum of thier things are getting abit more pricey)
altho Aldi and Lidl are quite similar in soo many ways, the store buildings, products, displays, even the price tags/labels.
Netto is good, they have nice strong bags
I like netto tho'
Yester-years were full ups and downs, smiles and frowns, cheers and tears...But I'll do it all again.

I use to work in Netto's a few years ago. They are cheap. What annoyed me was that they kept there workforce to a minimum.
There were times when I would literally be on my own on the shop floor.
During this period they had been opening new stores around the UK, so to keep costs down they cut everyones hours.
They have grown over the years.
There is a Lidl which opened up in my area last year.
Netto's is Danish
Lidle is German
I am not sure about Aldi

Once upon a time I would have said Aldi was better quality than Lidl but I have been pleasantly surprised at some of the things I have bought from these stores, like a real tasty meat pie - Lidl... Then again I bought a packet of crisp from Aldis the other day and they were out of date... Did I complain over a 50p six bag of crisp - No. As for the stigma, ppl shop where they can afford to and I think these store, especially Lidl's are trying to compete with the likes of maybe kwiksave, as they now sell some name brands at slightly better prices. However there are just some things you cannot compromise on, I dont buy meat in Sainsburys much less Lidls or Aldis (pls dont take offence to that). I do my 2/3 weekly shop in teefing Sainsburys and when I need stuff in between I sometimes go to the above stores.

My mum shops in Sainsburys and Lidl.
I do like the Packeted Mushroom Soups, and Noodles they sell.
At Nettos when food is a day or two before its sell by date they would reduce it.
If no one buys it we then take it to the backroom, and throw it into the big waste bin, and take it outside.
I lost count of the number of times I caught people ransaking the bins for some of these foods. i.e. lamb chops , chickens etc.

Any one tasted Marks and Spencer coleslaw, potato salad, victoria sponge cake. Mmmmmmmm. I also like Sainsurys/Tesco Muffins.
Another thing about the market leading stores is WHEN you buy something that is out of date there is a better level of service for obvious reasons. I once bought sainsurys brand breakfast bars 31p, they were 7months out of date! I took it back and got a £10 voucher. If I was mean I would have gone for more.
