Default Discoveries and Inventions - 21-02-08, 04:57 AM

I just had a power cut which was a reminder of how much we take for granted. Electricity, I mean absolutely nothing worked. On the other hand it was also another reminder that do we really need all of this technology we surround ourselves with and had me thinking if I were back home in the bush, living off the land where the sun was my only source of light I'd be much more better off...or at least more content.

Everything a caveman needed to build a computer was there just waiting to be discovered. It makes me appreciate there must still be things just waiting to be discovered and most will be discovered by accident. So global warming aside, do you have a favourite invention or discovery, one maybe you think changed the way we live more than anything else.

For me it's got to be electricity. When I'm working in one of the huge computer datacentres with thousands upon thousands of electronic devices doing their thing, from the light bulb to the internet itself at the end of the day it is all simply the manipulation of electricity.
