Thanks for re-opening the thread.. my views here are developed from the fact that having just come back from doing some REAL voulntary work in a country which is desperate, I did find it offensive that the mods on this board took such a stance; as the thread was not offensive or trouble making.. it was just my view... which should have been open to public discussion, including the mods.. so again, thank you.

My original thoughts having spent 12 weeks in a place that was very deprived and working with people with such limited resources, just made me mad to see how much money is wasted killing people when money could be spent cleaning up politics, corrupt officials and feeding hungrey people.. being there makes you have a less complacent view of other's suffering (even if it was only for a short term visit)..

EF MAX: please allow me to offer a further explanation, in my view there is already an avalanche of negative press and stereotypes about Africa.. So there is no need to repeat or reinforce that type of crap here... If this is a critical exploration of an issue then fine.. but if it is yet another lets take the piss out of Africa topic.. then the direction to all Mods is to close it down..

For me BNv should be/must be about Critiquing stereotypes not blindly reinforcing them.. and i have to say some of the comments i read on this thread were a reinforcement...and quite insulting to put it bluntly...thats why the thread may have been closed down...

I'm all for debate, but I prefer a properly constructed and frame arguement that engages the reader.. not silly comments about Africa being in the 'stoneage'
