Default if public transport was cheaper... - 05-03-08, 08:13 PM

if public transport was cheaper would you use it.

for me to take the bus to say the city centre is about 1.80 or 1.90, the journey lasts 5-8 minutes.
to get to work i would need to pay the same plus a further 1.20 for 2 minute journey

obviously over priced considering when in london the maximum you pay on the buses in one day is 3quid with oyster/pre-pay unless prices have increased since i was last down

i will spending less than that in petrol when i go back to work.

public transport buses shouldnt cost so much. 50p 80p now thats more like it.

Transport is so horrible now a monthly travelcard should cost no more than a fiver....if that.

Seriously I don't know what the hell we're paying for - everything's always late, tubes are smelly, escalators are frequently out of service - the only line I don't have problems with is Docklands Light Railway....the rest is just crap!!! The buses forget it.....

Well in London Boris is promising to cut tube prices...if you vote for him that is...lol

The prices in the UK are just ridiculous....can you believe you can't use bus passes in Trams, but you can use Tram passes on buses? too confusing, now i am being forced to take up driving lessons even tough i'd rather spend my money on rather more useful things.

(If i could drive but) public transport was cheaper, would i use it? No. Why you say? Let me count the ways:

1- I'm tired of watching people dig out their noses with no thought for hygene whatsoever

2- I'm tired of getting caught up in the crossfire of people who think it's exceptable to cough/yawn/sneeze without covering their mouths/noses

3- If I decide to indulge myself by spending my hard earned cash on a magazine to read on my to/from my destination, why the frig is it exceptable for some cheap mofo to peak over my shoulder in that oh-so-discrete way that they do??

4- It annoys me when I arrive at my destination and find a blond hair stuck to my clothes.

6- Too many other users of public transport find it acceptable to leave their house without bathing/washing their clothes/brushin their teeth

7- It's not too bad on my way too work, but on my way home from work my train is ALWAYS delayed! ALWAYS! Be it 1 minute or 10 minutes- it's ALWAYS DELAYED!!!!!

8- My all time pet hate: STEP ASIDE AND LET PEOPLE GET OFF THE FRIGGING TUBE FIRST DAMMIT! HOW DO YOU EXPECT TO GET ON WHILE THERE ARE 10 PEOPLE TRYING TO GET OFF???? FFS!!! MOOOOOOOOOOOVE OUT OF MY BLOODY WAY YOU SELFISH IDIOT!!

Would really have to factor in the full cost of driving to see if its a cheaper option, road tax, insurance throughout the year and so on. Still think it would be cheaper than lets say a week on public transport to the same destination each day but it'd have to be weighed up.

Annoying having to pay £2 to get down the road and another £2 back it really is and that free travel they've given to kids under 16s (or is it 18 now) just isn't working they should pay 70p so they can drop the price of the standard fare to something more reasonable.

Don't remember being asked about any of this of course... they should put any changes to service to a vote, same goes with congestion charging so far I don't feel included in any decisions made, they just leave it to fly over peoples heads, enough money in the city already no need to syphon off more from people.

Crime rates go up with the cost of living... that being said I haven't seen any trouble on a bus for a while, perhaps the fare has driven off the muggers and troublesome types, they can't use an oyster as they can be tracked on it so they;d have to pay the full fare if they're out causing trouble.

I wanted to know if the Dagara elders could tell the diffrence between fiction and reality. The elders did not understand what a starship is, they did not understand what the fussy uniforms had to do with anything but they recognized in Spock a Kontomble of the seventh planet... they had never seen a Kontomble that big.
