Default WTF?? Do you find this clothing line offensive? - 20-04-08, 12:39 AM

I was checking out some sites for some new gear and ran across this:

From clothing company Supreme.
Artist: cartoonist Ralph Bakshi (born in Israel)

Some background on Ralph Bakshi:
Writer/Director/Producer of "Fritz the Cat" (old school animated movie)
More recently: Director of 1993 animated flick "Cool World"
Made an animated movie called "Coonskin" back in the day:

Now I don't know shit about dude other than the fact that I saw "Fritz the Cat" back in the 80's, so I will refrain from calling him an all out racist. But I'll be damned if I walk the streets with that shirt on my back. :smh:

I'm sure there's some black women that would run out and buy it though, as some kind of "statement".

Here's another piece from Supreme's Spring '08 catalog:
Artist: Cartoonist R. Crumb

I should also point out that I don't believe these dudes have any ownership in the clothing line, they are just popular cartoonists that authorized the use of their images by the clothing line.

Supreme

As for whether I find the images racist, well let's just say anyone born in Isreal is for me immediately suspect.

I aint asking for nothing, just open the door and i\'ll take it myself-James Brown.

The shirt is racist and down right ugly, I can see some white chick buying for her whipped black boyfriend, and she knows he will wear it!

All it takes is one dumb ass rapper to wear this shit and they will make millions - Bathing Ape all over again.
.lol. Was sent a Bathin' Ape T-Shirt a while ago, couldn't wear it. Was surprised artists were endorsing them.

Black Lion is... Agu Bu Oji in Igbo, Simba nyeusi in Swahili, the name of a hospital in Addis Adaba the capital of Ethiopia.

On the contrary, I think you'd see white women buying them in droves before a black woman would....... because yes... I find it dyam offensive.
