Kebabs can contain a wine glass of cooking oil, warn scientists in shock fast-food survey | the Daily Mail

i don't normally read this paper but this story made me laugh so much.

A shocking survey of takeaways has found a doner kebab containing the equivalent of a wine glass full of cooking oil, and other fast food favourites are not far behind.

Nutritionists said today that just two of these greasy takeaway meals a week could cause a heart attack within 10 years.

Food scientists from Hampshire County Council tested the contents of popular takeaways, including Chinese, Indian, pizzas, kebabs and fish and chips, and made some worrying discoveries.

It makes me sick just thinking about the amount of times I've eaten this greasy poison back in the day. Ugh!! Kebab meat could be any part of the animal's (or whatever) body and it's such an unhealthy and disgusting ting fi nyam. Chinese food isn't much better either. Like Chris Tucker said in Rush Hour its nothing but a big box of grease.

Fish and chips is supposed to be the better alternative if you want takeaway and even then it depends on where you go. There's only ONE place I trust for that and they've been around for many years.

You're better off home cooking.

Home cooking is my only choice...cos take aways are abit pricey(excluding £2chicken&chips+free drink)
and plus I'm tight with my money.

But straight up...I like kebabs.
and I'm not thinking about weight right about now, cos I'm a light-weight, I could stand 2 gain a few pounds..lol....

but i hear wat ur saying about the kebabs and grease.
If i knew how 2 do home-made kebabs I would.

PS:Is it me or do u just never see chinsese people in chinese take aways??

It's eay to make home made kebabs. Just buy some skewers(sp) chop off your mea, fish, chicken, veg or whatever you want to make into cube sizes, marinate with All purpose or meat or chicken seasoning(basically experiment which ones you like best), put them into skewers and then grill them. For salads, just chop some cabbage, red onions(because they are sweeter) iceberg lettuce. Get some pitta bread, some Mayo and you are set. It's very easy....u is just being a lazy boy.....

Bear in mind they're talking DONER kebabs. That curiously processed slab of spinning fat turning all day long in front of a heater. Only drunk people coming out of a club crave that sort of thing. Probably because their unconscious bodies crave fat and salts after all that sweating and dancing and drinking drained them.

A shish is perfectly fine. Shish you can do at home. The kebabs you get in wraps or nan bread or something like that I can eat. Doner is just nasty though... could never. It even LOOKS like a slab of fat.
